I have updated keynote to the newest version (6.0). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can customize any part of the presenter display. I can add or remove windows/panels, but not resize them. Is there really no way to do this? That would be a major drawback and would certainly make me consider going back to a 4+ year-old version of Keynote.

This is also my #1 complaint about Keynote 6, and is a real deal-breaker for me. I use Keynote for sermon presentations, and I need to be able to see ALL the presenter notes for each page without scrolling, along with smaller versions of the current screen and next screen. I can't use Keynote 6 until Apple fixes this, so I'll be sticking to Keynote 5 for now. If there IS a way to customize the presenter display, please post it.
I agree with you guys. I've been using Keynote for 10 years, and I cannot understand how anyone who designed/tested this application didn't realize that removing the possiblity to customize the presenter's screen (and forcing the presenter's notes into a small horizontal stripe below two huge slide previews) makes this software useless to presenters who use their notes. Absolutely a deal-breaker for me (and with two lectures tomorrow, I now have to remove the app and re-install the previous version).
I just installed the new Keynote and simply cannot understand what just happened. This is a HUGE omission. Just like all of you I need to be able to see all my notes. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and renders this new version useless.
Hoping for a VERY quick fix.
Same problem. I actually need to increase the size of the primary display so I can see it from further apart.
This is now almost as useless as the PowerPoint presenter display.
What were they thinking?
Having read recent posts on lots of things, i'm not going to upgrade. but I'd like to know if I can still use old Keynote and upgrade to Mavericks?
Like everyone else, the Presenter Display issue is a deal breaker for me. In the past, i have gloated over PPT's horrible presenter display which is all but useless. What amazes me is that Apple seems to be falling out of touch with real users and driving towards a flawed iCloud and consumer driven vision for their software. Keynote was/is a massively superior product to the aesthetically offensive dumbed down PPT. What they are missing is what makes for great presentations, something which Steve Jobs understood, and that is being far enough away from your notes so that the audience is not aware that you are periodically consulting them. THAT's why we need a big notes field - I do mine in huge type, visible from 10ft. And then, of course, there is the hilarious decision to have a huge image of the 'current' slide in the presenter display, when all you have to do is look over your shoulder to see what's on screen.
Absolutely. I don't even need the current slide... Btw: this got me thinking and I just removed current slide, next slide and clock. Lo and behold the Notes field takes up the empty space!
So at least I can temporarely get a decent sized field by making those compromises. We shouldn't have to compromise though — this is a mistake.

Have to agree with you all. This is boneheaded. I played around for a while trying to work out to do it, assuming that Apple wouldn't be so stupid that they wouldn't allow customization. I realize you can scroll through text on the presenter notes, but that kind of assumes you have to be at your laptop, and that's no way to deliver a presentation. Bring it back!

Well, different people have different styles of giving different presentations to different audiences in different venues.
When you have given a couple thousand presentations (and I mean this number literally), you know that requirements vary. That's why a customizable presenter display was a godsend, probably the biggest selling point that Keynote had for serious presenters.
You still can customize, turning features on and off, but you can't influence how a turned-on feature looks like size-wise.
("Looking over your shoulder" doesn't work in all venues, and probably would be recognized as the hallmark of an amateur presenter by most people in the audience who give a lot of presentations themselves.)
You can export from Keynote '13 (Keynote 6) to Keynote '09 (Keynote 5). Keynote '09 seems to run fine on Mavericks, by the way.
Not being able to see the pointer on the presenter display when you use it to point out something on the slideshow display is one thing that was wrong in Keynote '09 and they haven't fixed in Keynote '13.
(Now what I really want to get back is an alternative mode where I can edit the presentation on one screen and show it on the other at the same time...
Powerpoint in Windows was great for that. But that's a completely different style of presentation again.)
Horrible downgrade. Anyone that actually uses notes to present will not be able to use the latest Keynote.
iWork got so dumbed-down with this upgrade. Pages took major hits in functionality as well (find special characters, etc ...).
Customize Presenter View was one of the main advantages of old Keynote.
iOS compatibility not worth the loss of features.
Just adding my dismay. I give courses on giving presentations and used to suggest to people that they customize their Keynote display to make the notes prominent and the slides less so. I simply can't understand how someone who actually gives presentations could have had a role in this.
Apple--Please fix ASAP. This was a MAJOR advantage of Keynote over Powerpoint.
Oh, man, it can't be true. The one killer feature: Being able to see all your notes while you are giving a speech, and they take it away?
I hope they keep Keynote 09 around long enough, because I will be using it until I can customize my presentation display again.
Whoever made this decision doesn't give presentations for a living.

Yes, the old version of Keynote seems to be compatible with Mavericks. I taught a class today with that combination. Had to fiddle with secondary display a bit, but got it working. New presenter display is probably a deal breaker for me right now as well.
I have downgraded (actually upgraded) back to keyonte 5.3 because of the presenter display issue. Apple needs to fix this ASAP!
I give presenations several times a week and need to have the objects in presenter display costomizable.
Is there any way to customize the size of windows in the presenter display?
