From memory, it went like this:

In Finder, I have an icon in the toolbar marked 'Arrange'. If you don't have it, go to Finder and under the View menu select 'Customise Toolbar'.The customise panel appears and you can drag and drop the Arrange icon onto your toolbar.

Click on the down arrow on the Arrange icon and you will see a drop down menu. Click on an option e.g. name (i.e. arrange folder contents by name). This should make your invisible files appear. I had to do this for most of the folders in Favorites on the Finder toolbar. One or two were ok anyway for some reason.

I have a strange problem.

After mavericks update on MBA 2013, the first time I open Finder after a fresh boot, it takes like 30 seconds to show any file/folder. Not a big deal, but anyway...Everyone else?

Same issue for me.. It doesn't happen every time I open a specific folder, and even if I wait 30 seconds there is nothing.. I even did a Clean Install because I already had that issue last week..

That is a known bug and Apple is working on it - I sent in a bug report some time ago.

I used to see this in Open/Save dialogs for 2-3 days after installing Mavericks.

I set all disk volumes to Privacy in Spotlight for a minute, then out and let Spotlight rebuild all indices overnight

The problem disappeared for me, but your mileage may vary

To change the arrangement of the files in Finder:

To get Spotlight to re-index, copy/paste this command into Terminal

sudo mdutil -E /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"

Apple is working on it based on the query I got from them yesterday.

Delete the Finder preferences file and reboot. Located in User/Library/Preferences/ File is named com.apple.finder.plist

Get to User/Library by clicking "Go" in finder and holding down the Option key.

You can also create another user and see if the problem exists there. If it does not, deleting the finder plist file will likely work.

my finder and app icon bounces up and then nothing happens.

Is there a way to fix this? I tried to re-install mavericks already, and still no fix.
