Magic Mouse right-click stopped working after updating from Mountain Lion to Mavericks

After updating to Mavericks I can't use right-click on my Magic Mouse to access contect menus. I tried turning the mouse on and of to reestablish the Bluetooth connection but no change. I tried testing with a usb mouse and right-click context menues work as expected so this appears to be Magic Mouse -specific.

Missed the part where I mentioned that I tried everything - like turning secondary click on/off switching sides, etc, etc, etc... hence tried everything...

Unless you have some secret recipie to "reconfigure system preferences secondary click" like hold down shift+option+command+delete and s secret menu appears that says - make secondary click actually work...

Okay,

I had this on two computers and it is now fixed...

First computer I just clicked/reclicked secondary click on and off a few times - did nothing then rebooted and everything was now working.

Second computer no dice - I deleted the account - created a new one and it started working.

Try just click/reclick on the settings for magic mouse in sys prefs that are not working and then a reboot first... the other method is far more extreme but for that computer my user setup is easy so it was no big deal thankfully.

I found a thread that suggested deleting (or moving to desktop) the following files then rebooting.

com.apple.Bluetooth.(long number here).plist

com.apple.Bluetooth.(long number here).plist.locked

I forget where they were located but I easily found them by searching with "com.apple.Bluetooth"

Try at your own risk but it seems to have worked. It's possible that rebooting is all that was necessary so I would try that first.

Resorting to rebooting to get things to work starts to feel like the old days on Windows! When in doubt, reboot.

Weird thing is that even the trackpad right click doesn't work properly. The setting menu seems not to care whether i check the option to get secondary click via two finger tapping or bottom right click on trackpad....just doesn't work. Funny enough, I found out by accident that right click works if i push the bottom right part on trackpad for 2-3 seconds.

This has to fixed! I'd like to empty my trash can right away and not sitting there waiting the right click menu to appear!

Does anyone have a clue how to fix the trackpad?

I just got off the phone with Apple and they suggested that I shut down my computer andclick the power button plus hold down command+control+p+r until the computer start up noise sounds twice. I did so, and everything is working perfectly for me. Hope this helps!

This was exactly the solution I needed after trying to fix this for quite some time. Thanks!
