keynote remote shows blank slides

I have a Keynote presentation that was imported from PowerPoint. The presentation is all images, no text on each slide. If I'm connecting my iPhone to my iPad it works fine. But when I try and control my presentation on my MacBook Pro using the remote app on both my iPhone and my iPad just shows blank white pages. It will still switch slides as it should, I just don't see any preview in the remote app.

Any ideas?

Again if I'm using the remote in my iPhone connected to my iPad Keynote all is good. It's only trying to control a Keynote on my MBP using Keynote Remote on
