Partial Maverick OS X download aborted, how to force re-download?

I downloaded OS X Mavericks. I paused and unpaused the download 3 times. The download terminated way before download was complete. An app store message popped up stating I needed to repurchase to get it to download again. The app store says it has been downloaded. I've searched my drive for the installer and there is no installer in /Applications or anywhere (that I can find) on my entire drive. How do I get the App store to see that I've not installed Mavericsks so I can redownload it?

OK. I rebooted my mac, opened the app store, and clicked on the OS X Mavericks (downloaded) button. It prompted me for my apple ID and then started the download. I don't know if the reboot was necessary. So, apparently, no files have to be deleted on the mac to get it to redownload in this case. Or maybe the reboot deleted some temporary files.

hi, I have tried your solution. but i still can't see the RESUME option in purchases.

Everytime i try to download MAVERICKS , after few hours it takes me back to my LOGIN screen of macbook.

then i login to my macbook and the previous download of MAVERICKS is gone. I don't even see it on Lunchpad.

I don't get any RESUME option on purhcases also in macstore. So i have to redownload it again.

So i click download again and is starts downlaoding again....

but same issue again. after few hours it gets me back to my macbook logon screen. then again previous download is gone. i have to go to macstore again and RE-DOWNLAOD mavericks.

What should i do ? this is going on since last two days. Getting worried and ******. 😟

Someone help me. Thanks.

I was having the same issue, and found a solution that does not require a reboot. Whenever I encounter an error in the Maverick download I,

Step 1: Copy (Cmd+C) the "OSX Mavericks" app package from the Applications folder

Step 2: Move (Cmd+Opt+V) it to another folder, say downloads

Step 3: Close Mac App Store

Step 4: Move the "OSX Mavericks" file back to the applications folder

Step 5: Double click "OSX Mavericks" and it reumes the download (rather than starting a fresh new download)

I was having this problem on a shared Mac on which someone else used their AppleID to start the Mavericks download. It never completed. The odd difference in my case is that it seems like it never even started.

Symptoms:

  • Beneath the "Resume" button App Store showed "0 of 5.9GB" (or whatever the actual size is) had been downloaded.
  • Clicking the "Resume" button in App Store asked for my AppleID but did nothing
  • Checking the "Purchases" tab in App Store didn't even list Mavericks
  • /Applications showed no sign of any "Install Mavericks" app (I even used `sudo find / -name "*Mav*"` in Terminal and came up with nothing)
  • Launchpad showed an empty progress bar in its Dock icon
  • Entering Launchpad, I could see the Mavericks "X" icon with the empty progress bar as well. But clicking it didn't have any effect.
  • Mousing-down on the Launchpad Dock icon and Ctrl-alt-clicking the Launchpad icon (as Jerome.Ryan suggested) only gave me the "Remove from Dock" and "Show Launchpad" options.

My solution:

  1. I made sure to sign out of my colleague's App Store account and sign in with my own
  2. entered Launchpad and found the Mavericks icon
  3. held down the "option" key to make the "x" icon decorators appear on all of the icons and make them all tremble in fear of imminent termination
  4. clicked the "x" to terminate the Mavericks app
  5. Returned to App Store and found the "Resume" button had returned to "Download."
  6. Clicked "Download" and now it is downloading Mavericks under my AppleID. 2 hours 45 minutes to go...

Fixed by hovering the mouse over pause icon in the dock, click/hold for two or three seconds. It then gives the option to resume.

I wish those who create such websites were actually made to sit alongside people totally unfamiliar with a set up because they seem so close to their work they don't understand the simplest of issues, potential ****-ups or basic requirements of users.
