i have a big problem with the RAW's of my Sony NEX-5R. When i take a picture with my Kit-Lens at 16mm it looks so bad an their is no lens correction. I tried serval thinks. Reinstalled Aperture; create a new libary, etc. but nothing works. I don't want so switsh to an other program, so maybe somebody could help me.
Here is a example:
Aperture 3, OS X Mavericks (10.9), i tried it with 10.6; 10.7 and 10.8

Unfortunately, if you use Aperture you've basically got three primary options, from least desirable to most desirable: 1) Shoot in JPG to benefit from in-camera correction, 2) Shoot in RAW, convert to TIFF with the Sony Data Image Converter software, then import to Aperture, or 3) Buy the PTLens plug-in for Aperture.

thanks a lot for your answer. I tryed it with the plugin PTLens and it work. For 25$ it is ok. But i really think about an other camera like the RX100M2 cause the most pictures i take, they are in vacation and so i could use an other benefit of the RX, it is smaller.

I had hopes with this : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5358 since it was last updated quite recently (17th of Jan 2014)
But unfortunately, this is not true.
My pictures taken with my NEX-6 and the 16-50mm lens are still distorted, even though I updated all I could, and I always imported my RAW pictures directly from my camera to Aperture...
I hope an update will fix this quite soon...
Generally the only RAW converters that allow for lens correction are those cameras with fixed lenses. I think you will have to use Photoshop or PTLens. Of course, you are free to send feedback:
I can't say that I have this problem with a NEX-5R, but my kit lens is an 18-55 zoom. I'm curious as to what kind of a lens you are using? It may be that the RAW converter has not been updated for that lens???

Apple does not release lens-centric updates, unless the camera has a fixed lens and the mfg fixes lens distortion in its raw decoding software.
Yes, I used to have the first edition of the NEX-5 with the 18-55 lens, and had no problem.
I discovered this issue with the new lens. I hope an update for the RAW converter will come soon and fix this.
There you go, much awaited updated of the RAW converter is there... but still does not work for the lense... 😐
