Sent reply to main forum it is only how to revert to the original iMovie 9 but at least I can pick up where I left off

I am also baffled at Apples oversight in iMovie event organization. Smart folders would be awesome in iMovie. I have renamed all of my events using the  yyyy-mm-dd format at the beginning and have brought back some organization that way. While not the ideal fix, it does work in a pinch. Hopefully, an update will give us more flexibility. Geez!

Hope this helps anyone out there

    I deleted imovie10

ever since i did, my time machine backups are finally working again!

Time machine views each imoive library seperatly...thus killing hard drive space with backups.

imovie 10 and its library are finally gone and everything is back to normal

Just jumping on this to see if a resolution comes up.  iMovie 10 is pretty useless to me until the sorting is sorted.

Just discovered this today when organizing my iMovie library. Inexcusable. Please report to Apple so they make sure this is on the radar: http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html

Downloading iMovie 10.0.3 which says: "added: sort events by date" ...

I downloaded the update last night, and it works just as it should. I still can't imagine why it took them this long to restore such basic functionality.

I updated today and all seems well.  So, 6 months or so later...  better late than never I suppose...

I must get round to sorting all that video out now...

Strangest thing. I updated on my parents mac, and if I remember correctly it seemed that I was able to get all of the events to sort properly.

However, when I came home and updated my on iMovie, my library consistently is showing an issue for all videos with timestamps before 2000. I even deleted and re-updated the library multiple times. All the videos sort fine in my old library in iMovie 9., but when that same library is updated for iMovie 10.0.3, all events prior to 2000 get put in under 2009 (which I believe was the import date originally). The timestamps of the original files still show the correct dates when I look at the original files in the new library.

I don't understand what would account for the difference (if I remember correctly) between the update solving this issue properly on my parent's and not on mine. This is especially puzzling since my library is just a clone of what they have.

I am about to kill Apple for this horrible update to iMovie and have reverted to the older version. I did try to give it another try today and it does sort by date but only going down so that 25 December is before 5 December. Changing Ascending and Decending does nothing. Also I could not import videos unless I setup an event using today's date.

I am so dissapointed and I have wasted so much time in trying to use this program that I could have learnt another more advanced program. The older version worked so well that if my final try tonight does not work I am going back to the old version and then buying something else and hope that someone in Apple reads about our dissappointment.

Holy crap.... now I'm getting irritated.

I have taken a lot of pics and videos... with the exact same camera....

When I combine the pics and video in an event... and go to make a project...

The video and pics are not coordinated next to each other by date.... they are off... they were taken with the same camera that had the same clock set at the same time!

i.e. pic taken at 8am is not next to the video taken at 8am.

    Imovie 10.0.3.

Yes... view, Sort events by: date/decending.

    So incredibly annoying!

    Thoughts???
