Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.2 Won't wifi sync iPhone

Since updating to Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.2 itunes no longer recognizes either my iphone or ipad via wi-fi.

I have plugged them in and toggled the checkbox to no avail.

I have even restored my iphone. No deal.

If I plug them in, then I can sync. But even with the box checked to sync over wi-fi, as soon as I unplug the phone, it loses connecton.

I have also rebooted the phone and restarted my computer.

The sync over wi-fi opton is completely unavailable.

If I remember correctly, you did multiple things (changed IPv6, and restarted your Mac).

If your problem is the same as mine, I think your restart is the only thing that did anything.

For me, after I restart, iTunes will detect my iOS devices with no problems. The problem starts once the machine goes to sleep. After it wakes up, it no longer detects any devices over Wi-Fi.

That might explain why it worked for you at first, but then stopped working (after enough time passed for your machine to sleep).

I did the IPv6 thing and restarted iMac and Airport and it worked for several days, through several sleep-wake cycles, and then stopped working after a restart. I'm pretty sure pixies are active here (and nasty little buggers be they.)

I was having the issue earlier to, and I had nearly every solution posted on every forum. Then my brain started working and something clicked. Did you make sure you have bonjour running? Because I didn't i had turned mine off in system settings. I only know how to do it on microsfot not on mac so the process i followed was

Start-->MSCONFIG(just type it in the search bar)-->then click the tab SERVICES-->

I hide all the microsoft things with the little box at the bottom left of that screen, and my apple services boxes where mostly unclicked, i made sure all of them where clicked, espcially the bonjour sevice, and then clicked ok, restarted my computer, and opened itunes and now my phones show up

Just in case this helps someone else...

I had all the previously mentioned problems (itunes 11.1.3(8) wouldn't do wifi sync, and mavericks didn't recognise the iphone usb when plugged in to sync either so NO SYNCING at all for days since updating to 11.1.3!

Tried all the previous fixes and nothing worked.

In the end I decided to try shutting down my phone and then booting it back up.

It's currently syncing via wifi like normal!!!

Hopefully this can ease other ppls frustration?!

Apple says this capability is not available in Mavericks.

From an Apple support page:

Note: These instructions apply only if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.

I suspect anybody who thinks they have successfully synced might have been mistaken; it might have gone via iCloud without them knowing....

aps.

@ echelon3

I've been complaining about this exact issue from almost the moment I discovered it after the ridculous update to Mavericks. Countless calls to Apple have gone on to deaf ears. The powers-at-be at Apple want to force all to use the "cloud" - to sync contacts and calendar. NEVER. But here we are - with a product we purchased, for us - a MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone - and now cannot use them as we purchased them to work.

I don't know who runs this forum - but here's my thought: How can we organize groups of ****** off Apple users - and basically with signs and handouts - organize for one day or a weekend at many, many Apple stores around the country - informing people that are going in and out of Apple stores - that their PRIVATE information cannot be transferred from device to device PRIVATELY - but Apple - for some reason - wants access to their calendars and contacts.

This is such a simple fix by Apple - and yet they are choosing to ignore the issue raised by so many. Maybe some vocal outcry and some media coverage might help.

Thoughts please.

I'm at a loss as to how to proceed, jocal.

I have complained through Senior Techs, postings through Apple's Feedback System, and blanket executive emails.

iCloud is not an option for me, I am legally prohibited from putting my client's addresses in a place not under my control, and I will not consider Apple's servers "under my control".

For now, I have rolled back to Mountain Lion. I have no other option that is reasonable or cost-effective.

The media HAS covered this, and Apple shows no current intent to respond.

Hey Apple! This is crazy! In Australia ALL INTERNET CONNECTIONS ARE METERED, it's the same in many other countries! This means that by forcing us to synchronise strictly by iCloud, we have the double or even treble or quadruple our downloads, depending on how many Mac OS and iOS devices we have. We should all complaining heavily via Apple's feedback channel.
