Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.2 Won't wifi sync iPhone

Since updating to Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.2 itunes no longer recognizes either my iphone or ipad via wi-fi.

I have plugged them in and toggled the checkbox to no avail.

I have even restored my iphone. No deal.

If I plug them in, then I can sync. But even with the box checked to sync over wi-fi, as soon as I unplug the phone, it loses connecton.

I have also rebooted the phone and restarted my computer.

The sync over wi-fi opton is completely unavailable.

I bought an iphone with the specific purpose of syncing my address and calendar with my computer. I am terribly disappointed in the actions by Apple that take options and control out of the hands of the consumers. Mac products cost enough that these actions make me think twice about future purchases. What else are they going to take away in order to force us to do things we don't want to do?

This is truly a bad decision on Apples part IMHO, but the issue here in this discussion is about syncing everything else — ie not Contacts and Calendars — wirelessly over the local network. Something I currently do almost daily with an iPhone 5 with IOS 7.0.6 to my Macbook Pro with OS X Mavericks 10.9.2. I have it set on automatic and it works nicely.

Wifi syncing does take longer time than via USB, so for big moves and fast syncing I use USB.

does not work. thanks anyway. we're talking about OS 10.9.2 and iTunes 11.1.5 and IOS 7.1. Wifi sync is activated. devices (IOS 7.1) appear after restart and disappear after iTunes is closed or computer goes to sleep. Reproducable by 100%. After restart of the machine devices appear again. Connect over USB is O.K. Same network and other machine with 10.8.5: Everything's O.K. This has to be a problem with Mavericks. And it's very very annoying!

Because looking for a fix is stealing my time.

How can you be sure it's Mavericks, when WIfi sync works for a number of people and you haven't ruled out your router by trying other routers or ruled out your network topology by trying syncing closer to the router or changing the channel. Or even trying another network or another known good computer — i e where a friend of yours can wifi sync — where you can make a new user and log in and try to sync on this new machine.

or sync with another iPhone. The real issue could be anywhere in the system.

I think he gave his reasons why he thought it was a problem with Mavericks in his message. I am having the same problem. We can get it to work by rebooting Mavericks. After the machine goes to sleep and wakes up, WiFi sync no longer works. It happens every time.

A look at the Console log shows that the machine is ignoring the device when it tries to be recognized by Bonjour because it thinks it's a duplicate device (see an earlier message from me).

Obviously, not everyone on this list is affected by the same problem, since some people get it working using different methods. But if the symptoms are the same as Don and myself are having, it points to Mavericks being the problem.

I have an open bug report on Apple's Bug Tracker... They have requested more information multiple times (reproducing the problem with additional debug logging enabled) from me, so they are investigating it.

An investigation sounds good. Nevertheless, to really rule out everything else is still a valid approach and even so in these forums that is an approach that is commonly ignored. If you haven't ruled out everything else you only have an unverified idea on what the actual cause could be. In other words you don't actually know. Wireless networks are not rock solid in several circumstances, so looking at that is very natural. Especially with phones that are typically moved.

I was convinced something was very wrong with my new audio interface until I put it in the other USB port. Turns everything else — in this case the 2 USB ports — wasn't equal (even if the speed was). I tried to think outside of my own conclusions on the probable cause and brought an open mind to new information that in the end fixed the (bigger part of the) problems I had.

thanks for the tip with console (should be the 1. thing for investigation) I found the same info for my ipad and iphone: "has already appeared on interface 4" and "suppressing duplicate attach notification" Do you know where to find "interface 4"?

I am sure evrythings OK with my network, because the problem appears since I updated my iMac from 10.8.5 when 10.9.2 had been released recently. The other computer in the same network is a macbook pro with 10.8.5 which is working flawlessly. Network hardware is completely Apple.

Did You succeed in the meantime? have a nice sunday.
