Q: Graphic failure after full on memory consumption

After few hours of usage mostly after a high memory consumption, my mac starts doing these lines. Now i never had this issue before maverick upgrade. Can someone let me know what is going on. Rebooting fixes the issue for now.

MacBook Pro

15-inch, Mid 2010

Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 288 MB

I didn't have an issue until the exact day that I upgraded to 10.9 like may others on this board. Many have had their systems serviced and still experience the issue. I tested rolling back to 10.8 and the issue went away. Seems like a software issue to me.
