Q: Smart mailboxes are empty in Mavericks mail

I have this too... OS X Mavericks (10.9)

weirdly... seems to be working now... i quit mail a few times...

still cant get rules to work for sent mail

Has spotlight finished indexing?

If they remain empty, you may need to reindex spotlight. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2409

Also, do you have them in a Smart Mailbox Folder? If so, that folder must be expanded in the Mailbox list.

ok, am doing this... rules still dont work and i've now got thousands of old mails in my smart box for unread mails!

Recreated my Smart Mailboxes and things like Today's Email are still not working.

This is weird. Now my Smart Mailboxes are slowly repopulating. I had 13 messages in my Unread folder but only three are showing. If I clcik on Yesterday's Email folder, there's a delay of 3-4 seconds before anything appears. Same with Today's Email.

Now I notice the number of unread messages appearing in Mail.app's icon on the dock in the red oval says 13, as it should, but only three emails are appearing in the actual Smart Mailbox.

Same problem here. Smart Mailboxes are very very slow to populate.

Anyone have an answer here?    

I have the same problem. Smart folders are empty. I tried to delete them and create them one more time, but I got no effect.

I have the same problem. I tried to delete and make it again but not effect as well. The use of smart folders is critic on my day by day. I really regret to install Mavericks I have to say.

I removed Mail's index files and it recreated them, but to no avail.

Simple smart mailboxes work, but most of those which rely on other smart mailboxes don't.

When opening a smart mailbox, the console reports the following error:

Mail[15299]: Unable to create Spotlight query for expression (((((_kMDQueryScope != '/Users/ [...] ) && (kMDItemContentType == 'com.apple.mail.emlx') with alot of conditions. Does this error message help anyone?

Is anyone from Apple monitoring these conversations?
