Q: Mavericks - Dock not showing on all screens?

One of the marquee features of OS X 10.9 is that the dock is now present on all screens ( http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/#multiple-displays ).

That doesn't seem to be the case for me.  I have a mid-2011 27" iMac with two external monitors; the dock only shows on what was designated as the main monitor under OS X 10.8, the center one.  The other two displays don't ever show the dock, even if that's the active monitor.

Doing a "killall Dock" in Terminal doesn't fix the issue and neither does restarting the computer.

Anyone experiencing something similar or have a solution?

Great thread.  So has anyone figured how to get the dock on multiple screens automatically in Mavericks...  Thank you...

It is on multiple displays if you have the settings to have Displays have separate spaces. Making it move from one to the other requires you spend a little more time at the bottom of the particular monitor.

I think I figured it out: get the mouse to the bottom of the screen were you want the dock to appear, then "force" it down but slowly! The trick is not exactly the direction but to do it slowly.

Yeah it works if you display is side by side. But if you have 2 monitors like i do in its top of main display then it wont work

I was able to get this to work with a 2x1 monitor arrangement where I have 2 displays logically on top and a third display at the bottom.

Here is how my configuration was when it did not work.

What I did was move the top bar to the monitor on the top left.  That was it.

Here is how the configuration looks now.

The only caveat with this is, in order to move the dock from the top left display to the top right display you need to make it appear on the bottom display first.  Lame!  But, at least it is in a somewhat functional state.

Bradhandy's setup of the displays worked for me as I have a similar setup using my 2 external displays and my MBPR screen.  Seems to working but just having to remember to dit the bottom of the screen at the time of being on that screen.  Thx.

    Hello!

Not sure if anyone figured this one out but you can move the dock from the Display Preferences.

In my example the dock is in the center screen, represented by the white bar at the top. To change it to a different screen, click and drag the white bar to another screen! So if I want to change the bar from center screen to the right screen, the final product would look like the second pic.

    Hope this helps some folks!

Same here - my screens are all same size and aligned perfectly.  Dock only appears on the furthest right (which happens to be the MBP's own screen.

Prior to 10.9.1, the Dock would appear on the active screen.  After that update, the feature disappeared.

However, if you're using the Magic Trackpad, you need to continue to swipe down about 4 times, and then the Dock will finally appear.

Do you have multiple spaces on all screens? I recently discovered that the delay before the dock appears on my second monitor was cured after I created more than one space on that second monitor. Mavericks treats each monitor independently and the default behavior for me was to have a single space on all but the primary screen.

To make the menu bar appear on both monitors, and the Dock appear on whichever screen you call it on:

    1. Go to System Prefs, Mission Control, and check the box "Displays have separate spaces".

    2. LOG OUT AND BACK IN

This feature has been fixed it seems to me: it used to work badly, but works fine for me now: I'm using Mavericks with a MacBook Air and an hp monitor placed "on the right" in Prefs, and with the menu bar positioned on the right, too -- the procedure that made this feature work for me, and perfectly well:  choose DISPLAYS HAVE SEPARATE SPACES in the Mission Control Preferences pane, AND THEN LOG OUT AND BACK IN. Then the Dock responds to the call on either monitor easily and quickly-- especially compared to when I briefly tried this feature when Mavericks first came out -- it was so slow and buggy I stopped trying back then.

Also: If you don't have "Displays have separate spaces" checked, you will not see menu bars on both screens.

Found this quick way to do it - simply swipe down at the bottom of the second display where you want the dock to appear.  Steps here: http://osxdaily.com/2013/11/17/show-dock-external-display-mac-os-x/

That is the only solution that worked for me, the screens cannot be above and below each other in the "arrangement" tab settings within display settings, they have to be adjacent. Thank you for posting the solution.
