Nov 26, 2013 6:14 AM in response to Andres Hidalgoby BobBalfe,So i went into the Keychain Access and I removed all of my certificates and this worked for me. I tried almost every other thing and nothing worked. Now, I have to re-enter most of my passwords but at least iMessage on my Mac is working again.

Nov 26, 2013 6:33 AM in response to Andres Hidalgoby Paulo Carrasco,Solved it with a clean install. Don't do a full Time Machine restore. Install and recover only data and clean install all your apps.

Nov 26, 2013 7:36 AM in response to Andres Hidalgoby mack76,I had exactly the same problem but i followed the resolution of changing back to my ho,e time zone, as im not there at this moment, and once I did both iMessanger and FaceTime worked straight away. So for me the working solution was to un tick automatic time zone and keep on Home Time not destination time. Hope this makes sense and helps..

Here is the fix that worked for me. Use at your owe risk. I do not recommend you do this unless you are somewhat tech savvy.... Otherwise, go to the apple store and get a tech to get the serial number back into the bios of the mac.
You need to find your serial number on the bottom of your mac or if older mbp remove battery and it is inside the battery housing.
Use this program to write the serial number to the board.

FYI you don't need to use a CD you can use a USB and on bootup hold the option key down and you can boot from the USB stick.
THANK YOU!
This was exactly what was wrong with my 15-inch, Mid 2010 MBP. Shortly after I purchased this laptop new, the motherboard had to be replaced. After that, I never could see the SN via software. Afer upgrading to Mavericks, iMessage would no longer work in Messages.
I downloaded the SN tool, burned it to a USB sitck, booted from that and set the SN to the real SN on the bottom of the laptop.
iMessage works again! and System Profiler reports the correct SN.

Dec 29, 2013 10:26 AM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by T Bone68,Thanks Ralph!!
This fixed it!
I had same issue with iMessage and Facetime BUT this was brand new imac out of box with Mavericks and just seemed to be associated with only 1 of the user profiles that was installed on the new imac. It was definitely a profile issue for me. I was experiencing the same issues as in this chain but it was not an upgraded imac; had the correct serial# displayed (better have been since it was brand new out of the box); and correct timezone was setup during initial setup/power up. It was obvioulsy not a network or system wide issue since these apps would work fine with another profile/user that was setup on same machine.
Thanks again!

Jan 3, 2014 12:41 PM in response to Andres Hidalgoby 1Levite,After reading much of this thread and cringing at the thought of a Mavericks re-install, the Solution for me was time AND timezone.
MBA running Mavericks, would not recognize/accept AppleID in iMessage
As suggested by others, went to Settings, Date & Time
Saw that timezone AND the time was not correct, so changed both to Auto. I don't know if it made a difference, but in the Clock tab, I also unchecked/reckecked AM/PM to try to force an update.
I returned to iMessage and all works. Thanks to all who provided solutions!

Jan 3, 2014 8:10 PM in response to 1Leviteby Tahuilán,I forgot to add in my last post: sign out of (iMessage/Facetime) of all your devices, like others pc/macbook, iPod, iPad, iPhone, etc... Finally I could use iMessage and Facetime doing all fo these things.
