Q: How can I bypass the previous owners password on my iPad?

I bought a second hand iPad 4th gen the other day. It looked to be ready for me to set up the iPad, but when I got homw to try it, there was a screen saying, "This iPad is currently linked to an Apple ID (S*****@hotmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPad." So my question is, how can I get by this? I don't have the sellers information, so I can't contact him.

Then the proper response is either to direct them to that post, state that again, or say nothing. If the only purpose your reply serves is to belittle or be snarky, then the entire point of these messages boards is defeated.

I don't care if thousands of people ask the same question 100 different ways, they came here because they were frustrated. Either help them or don't, but stop belittling people, saying they aren't responsible people, that they aren't be responsible with how they purchase items, or just plain respond with snark.

They came for help, either give it or don't post.

Your unwillingness to read the thread is your choice, but just to make things easier for you.

The procedure to unlock is to enter the password and ID that was used to lock it.

    Now you know.

I already knew the procedure; I didn't need your help. As I didn't ask, your response was totally unnecessary, which is what 90% of the responses on here are.

Then why are you here, it's clearly not to help.

    Just trolling ?

A company has some leverage.  It can withhold the final paycheck, until the company has control  - not just possession - of the device.

I was employed by a company that had an employee simply walk away from his job, literally, leaving his password-locked computer behind.  The password was "food".  The IT department finally discovered the password was "eat s**t".  The employee wasn't very smart but at least he had a sense of humor.

I already explained why I am here, quite a few times.

I see you can't just let it go, always the last word. I truly hope Apple realizes that these posts by these big level people are to their detriment. This board discourages anyone from seeking help.

If you don't need help, why are you here?  Do you enjoy whining?

Dear moderators, why isn't this post considered flaming??? Level 6 and amount of points? This is exactly why people are discouraged from asking for help.

    Apple's Terms & Conditions:

Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context.

Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase "I'm sorry for the rant, but…" you are likely in violation of this policy.

    Dear lpotter1,

You are obviously unaware that many many persons request and receive help from those forums.  In fact, a little investigation on your part will reveal that the levels that upset you so much are indicative of the help provided.  The one thing that is discouraged is whining.

So, I can take this as a refusal on the part of a moderator to give instructions on how to report moderators for violations of the terms and conditions of the message boards?

I hadn't realized you'd gotten a job as an ASC Host. Congratulations.
