Q: How can I bypass the previous owners password on my iPad?

I bought a second hand iPad 4th gen the other day. It looked to be ready for me to set up the iPad, but when I got homw to try it, there was a screen saying, "This iPad is currently linked to an Apple ID (S*****@hotmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPad." So my question is, how can I get by this? I don't have the sellers information, so I can't contact him.

    Apple's Terms:

Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context.

Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase "I'm sorry for the rant, but…" you are likely in violation of this policy.

Thanks, but I've probably read it a few more times than you have. Repeatedly posting this in the same thread is unnecessary.

You know dude there comes a time in every young man's life where he hopefully grows up and realizes and accepts the fact that life isn't always fair,  that one needs to choose ones battles wisely.  This is not one of those cases.  Let it go.  The folks you are arguing with help folks out here day in day out. They do a **** good job.  They aren't perfect - who is?  Take your manufactured outrage and turn it into a positive force to help someone out who has fallen on hard times in the next few days.  That'll bring it home that you're wasting precious energy here.

I already explained why I am here, quite a few times.

I see you can't just let it go, always the last word. I truly hope Apple realizes that these posts by these big level people are to their detriment. This board discourages anyone from seeking help.

How can we have the last word if you just keep repeating the same thing over and over again?

Here's a space for a another pair of your posts.

Dear moderators, why isn't this post considered flaming???

Once more I will remind you that the moderators are not answerable to you, why do you think that they are?

But answerable to Apple per the Terms & Conditions, which, legally cannot be applied only towards select individuals. Now I realize who the moderators here are and why the posts considered flaming are only banned for non-moderators. But that is fine, the entire integrity of these boards is completely irrelevant, right?

Go ahead, ban this too. I know you read it. I know I will be sending it to Apple's corporate offices. May not do any good, but abusing a position of "power" is unacceptable, especially to people coming here for help.

Do you have anything whatsoever to add to this persons thread that may be of use? Or are you simply stamping your feet like a child? Either add something to this thread or start your own thread. I'm sure people will be helpful if you change your attitude.

    Good Luck

    Pete

Nobody here is a moderator. Please follow Pete Deville's sage advice and let it go.

Your opinions (and this is just one more) are speculative as well as insulting.

That would be the reason they get removed, often I am the one to report them so aim your ire at me.

I also am done with you, you're rather infantile.

    Have a nice day.

Well, it is good to know there is a way to report insulting posts, I will see if doing that results in your plethora if insulting posts being removed.

Ironic that calling out the selective application of the Terms & Conditions makes me infantile. You spent your time reporting the posts I made because they were exactly as insulting as yours to all the users who came here seeking help and left being told they were irresponsible, amongst other insults.

Again, go ahead and report or ban this. It ***** being called out after sitting here for months saying whatever you wanted without consequence.

Before you may report posts you have to help enough people to reach level 2. Currently your points level is at 0.

So try to help people and if you succeed in helping them they may award points to you and you will then be able to report people (as I suspect that helping people is not why you are here) If you do not help anyone (as is your current situation) you won't be able to.

I'm a corporate user (IT) who has been issued a iPhone 5s for testing our mobile app.  This is not my phone - it is owned by my company, a very large international concern.

Our issue: the phone was setup by a previous user who is no longer with the company and we are unable to contact this person.

So basically we purchased this very expensive device (5s) and can never use it, ever?

This is really unbelievable.  As Brian Tong (CNET) often says..

    BAD APPLE!!!

    Shameful

Yet somehow you got this person's last paycheck to him/her.  Absolutely amazing.
