Apple will refund the sale, they will not reset the iPad.
I thought if one can prove ownership, then Apple could reset the iPad.
Let me put it another way ... let's say we're six months into the ownership of this product ... so does that mean that Apple can do nothing for the owner of the product in that event, just described here -- other than buying another device?

Nov 25, 2014 3:06 PM in response to Hotshotssnipeby allicat18,Did you ever figure out how to get passed the password and e-mail address?

Nov 25, 2014 3:16 PM in response to allicat18by gail from maine,The person you are posting to posted over a year ago. What is it that you are having trouble with? Is the password and email address a previous owner's address? If it is not yours, then the device is Activation Locked by a previous owner and unless you can contact them to remove it, there is nothing you can do:

If you can call Apple with proof that you are the original owner, they may help you unlock it. Can't help with the fact it also sounds as if she also needs a new boyfriend.

Does she remember her name? It reads as though you gave your friend - or that you're using that as a cover story - a stolen product, and you want us to tell you how to use an ill-gotten gain. You can use it as a hammer, and knock some sense into yourself.

Dec 19, 2014 11:03 PM in response to husseinfromnullby gail from maine,Of course it doesn't work. As has been stated (and stated, and stated)....if the device is Activation Locked by another user, only that user can remove the Activation Lock:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support
That's it. There is no other way to get around it.

thanks,
A friend of mine was able to open his iPad with a screwdriver and small chisel and remove the previous users ID with tweezers. I'm not saying it will work but that is just what I heard.

Dec 21, 2014 10:34 AM in response to Hotshotssnipeby mthobim,I must say that I am pretty impressed by Apple's attempt to protect their customers' devices from the thieves and the would be thieves, although it does not always work perfectly. I encourage Apple to include in some non-removable chip the GPS with precision of up to 50cm radius so that even if the device is not connected to the internet it can still be located via technologies like the gps. I further suggest that they make their devices impossible to open such as the iPhones. Thieves will to a certain extent be deterred from stealing these precious devices and selling to the unsuspecting public. In the past 18 months I have lost lots of these Apple devices to thieves with vital personal info dating 2009. If you unknowingly bought an Apple device that ever shows that the username for apple id is ******** please contact me we may strike a deal and I give you a "Thank you for returning my devices with my info." I am in Johannesburg South Africa. My mobile is +********. I am pretty sure the devices are currently useless to whoever has them as they have the latest Apple Software.
Thank you
MM

If the personal data was vital, I'm sure you must have backed it up at some point in the past 5 years, right?
