Jan 21, 2015 4:03 AM in response to Ralph9430by SillyTilly62,Riddle me this wise guy.
I setup my mothers Ipad with my Apple ID credentials because she didn't know how to use it, She got red up with the password that I had on my account, so i let her change it to something she WOULD remember, but as you can already tell she didn't remember it! well this is just the start of the problem. I also cannot access the email that the apple id was setup with to receive a password change email because the email had been setup with my step fathers number as a security option, so i cannot log into the account without having the security number texted to the phone and entering it. Well this became an issue when he walked out, we have no contact with him what so ever.
just a quick re-cap of the issue.
- Cant sign into apple id
- Cant sign into email
- Cant change password for either
- Cant receive security passcode to access email
Decided to open my mum an Apple ID account when he husband walked out, but the issue was that Icloud could not be changed unless signed into, so we also couldnt change the account for that, so over time we get this alert pop up saying Sign into iCloud. we cant do anything on the ipad because the pop up comes about ever 4-5 seconds now and wont stop. So i thought this could be resolved if i just grabbed all the images and media off the device and transfer it to my brand new mac book pro, then do a factory restore on the ipad. but you could guess this didnt go as planned due to it needing to be activated with the original Apple ID it was setup too.

By remembering the correct ID and password.
If that is impossible take the iPad and proof of ownership to an Apple Store for assistance.

Jan 21, 2015 8:11 AM in response to Hotshotssnipeby DMACavoy,Same issue as all of you. My student was issued an iPad purchased by the school and returned the iPad. Now I cannot use it without their ID. when I ask them for the ID, they tell me they cannot remember it!!

Jan 21, 2015 8:22 AM in response to DMACavoyby Jason Vicinanza,Same but different problem here.
My relative (75 years of age) has forgotten her iCloud password. She has also forgotten the answers to the security questions. I don’t know what date of birth she provided when setting up the iCloud account but it certainly was not her own date of birth!.. so I can’t even get to the security question part of the unlock process.
I therefore tried a factory reset hoping that I would end up with a empty iPad however even a factory reset does not delete any iCloud credentials on the iPad.
I believe it’s possible to delete the iCloud credentials you turn off ‘find my iPad’ but of course you need the iCloud password in order to do this.
I will take the iPad to the Apple store with proof of purchase, is there anything they can do? I really don’t want to tell my relative that the device is bricked, Apple have robbed a 75 year old woman of a lot of money!!. She has neither the money or the incentive to go out and buy another device.
What if I jailbreak the iPad? Will that help?
In this case Apple really *****.

Would you criticize the car manufacturer if she misplaced her car?
-
Jan 21, 2015 8:35 AM in response to Philly_Phanby m00t,At least the manufacturer would step up and help her find her car. Like a human being.

Jan 21, 2015 8:38 AM in response to Philly_Phanby Jason Vicinanza,Of course not. That comment is in no way parallel with the question I have.
I came here hoping for come constructive help from smart like minded people. It seems that i've come to the wrong place.

Jan 21, 2015 8:40 AM in response to Jason Vicinanzaby m00t,You definitely have, these so called 'helpers' on this thread with a billion 'helper' points (I hope you get a free trip or something at the end) will do nothing but criticize you and your situation. You're best going to an Apple store for a real 'Genius' my friend. No point in even talking to these idiots. Hope you get it fixed, unfortunately there is no way around it, but I did end up calling Apple and getting things figured out. You might try a call before going all the way to the store.
Hope it helps.

No. You're looking for a mechanism that would allow a thief to utilize a stolen iPad simply because you know of a case where someone forgot a password.

So you believe that a representative at an Apple Store will give a different answer? Amazing!
