Q: How can I bypass the previous owners password on my iPad?

I bought a second hand iPad 4th gen the other day. It looked to be ready for me to set up the iPad, but when I got homw to try it, there was a screen saying, "This iPad is currently linked to an Apple ID (S*****@hotmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPad." So my question is, how can I get by this? I don't have the sellers information, so I can't contact him.

I haven't seen anyone here accuse you of being a thief. And I pointed out you could call the Apple Online Store and look for purchase information. I'm not sure if you can do the same with the military but it would be worth a shot.

No, but you just had to point out that you are able to remember where you bought things four years ago.  Thanks I'm proud of you.  If you can't be helpful when someone post a question then don't answer.

If you can't be grateful to people volunteering their time to help, even if you don't use the information in the answer, don't bother saying anything about it. Making assumptions about what people meant and then being nasty about it will reduce the chances of people helping you in the future.

    Best of luck.

Really, I should be grateful for someone volunteering their time to question my integrity.  Its a two way street...don't make assumptions about me and I won't make assumptions anyone else...

BTW...did you see where I thanked Robert for his help!  I am grateful for the help I receive.

I'm sorry, but what part of this response is questioning your integrity:

I can remember where I bought things 4 years ago. If it was from the Base Exchange it is possible it was reboxed. It is also possible someone used your iPad and set it up using their Apple ID for some reason and never changed it.

If you purchased it from Apple you can call them and they can look up your purchase

    I'm not seeing it....

I have a similar problem and have read some of the responses to our problem,my problem is that I don't think the authorities would like me to dig up the previous owner to get the pass word out of him, the other way is to go to the gates of H**L and ask for an interview with the deceased person but apple just are not worth the trouble.

So you're telling us that you do not have power of attorney for the deceased and you are not identified in the will as a legitimate recipient of the iPad yet you feel that you have some right to expect assistance from Apple.  Hmmm...

You're suggesting that Apple should simply take your word for that?  Hmmm...  Do you buy many bridges?

Have the executor of the estate ask Apple.

This is why I put the last bit in "Apple are not worth the trouble". The base plate makes a good fruit bowl, and they have great magnets in them as well.

Then why are you posting sarcastic comments on the forum?

Thanks for the advice, but when was the last time you tried to get someone to do something for you that don't benefit them, they say yes but that's it, base makes a good fruit tray and there are some powerful magnets inside.
