Epson Scan does not work with Mavericks

I have an Epson Stylus SX600FW all-in-one.

The Epson Scan software does not work with Mavericks, so I canb't use the scanner. I have updated to the latest versio of Epson Scan from the Epson web site. it still does not work. I expect Apple has to provide driver files. maybe it's something else. Does anyone know the annswer?

Same problem with my Epson Perfection 4990Photo. Contact Epson did not help. Before re-install of the Epson software, removal „Epson Scan” from the library of the MAC was not enough. Somewhere there are still hidden old and new drivers that work against each other. I have now with Finder, all sought with the name Epson and removed from the HD where the OS is on. Then I downloaded the latest software from Epson. It can not be opened because it comes from "an unknown supplier". It can still be forced open by using "finder" to go and "ctrl" key button. Then click on the file and "open" in the new window. Now one can just install and fortunately everything works back to your liking.

Hi All,

Try to install the following driver, first remove all the Epson software using the uinstaller.

Install software from following link http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1398 in Mavericks.

Use the standard scanner function by doubleclicking the printer in Print & Scan system preferencepane, in the dialogue window, on the right you click Scanner.

There are still some issues saving the scanpreferences in that following window (paperformat).

It worked with my client wich has an Epson SC600FW.

To your success, Arnoud

The software v.3.9.2.1 WORKS

First I used it to uninstall the old epson scan software (disconnect your scanner when you uninstall), then I used it to install the new - restarted the computer. No more 'do not enter' sign over epson Scan.app.

try this link:

if the link doesn't connec, google

That's good news. As of November 4, 2013, Epson updated the Scan Utility for the Perfection V300 Photo with version 3.5.5.0.

For those of you that believe Apple's Image Capture is a satisfactory substitute, you are completely wrong. Apple's Image Capture is a basic scanner utility with no features. It offers no PDF compression and scans PDF files at a ridiculously large file size. Epson's scan utility offers far more features and Mavericks was not usable without it, especially when people scan documents as part of their workflow.

I quickly removed Mavericks because of this. I also removed Mavericks because it is completely foolish of Apple to force people to hold the Command key to open a folder in a new window, or even to open in a tab which they advertised as their new feature. Two-handed operation is not efficient. Right-clicking and left-clicking to open a folder in a new window is not a solution. Apple needs to restore the basic functionality of Finder windows that existed since 1984.

I thought "YES!!!!" too, when I saw the new Epson drivers had been released but after installing the appropriate one, my 18 month old Epson Perfection 330V Photo never worked again. Like others, I had been using Image Capture but far preferred the Scanner software. Epson Support could care less. I could not get the scanner to work using the original scanner software running on another iMac not upgraded to Mavericks. I will keep the scanner for a few weeks to see if a fix is released but it looks like a relatively new scanner is now junk. Not happy with Apple or Epson.

I have exactly the dame issue with this scanner (Epson Perfection V33). Upgrading Epson software via the App store was pointless. I now have a useless (relatively new) scanner and a useless large format HP printer (HP PhotosmartPro B8350) due to their manufacturers' lack of support for their hardware, which works just fine, but I can't use it! NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!
