Q: Can't install OS X Mavericks

Hey, I have a massive problem that currently makes my Macbook Pro Retina completely useless.

Here's my situation:

  1. Today I updated to OS X Mavericks without a problem, everything went smoothly.
  2. Shorly after, I decided I'd rather do a clean install.
  3. I restarted my Mac and did a boot from Startup Disk.
  4. I went to Disk Utility and erased Macintosh HD.
  5. I tried to install OS X Mavericks, but I was being told that "This Apple ID have not purchased Lion."

So that's my problem, I can't go any further from there. My current Apple ID isn't the same one that I used when I bought this laptop, perhaps that's the issue?

However, I can't remember what account or password I used when I was setting up this Mac for the very first time.

Oddly enough, I've never purchased Lion, when I first began using this laptop, it came with Mountain Lion, not Lion.

I've tried calling the Apple Support in my country twice, both had no idea what to do. The first one said I should "Try to really think if I could recall what account I used.." when I told him I had absoutely no idea, he kind of ended the conversation.

The second time, we agreed that I could purchase a version of Lion over the Apple Store, and after doing that, I might be able to get allowed to install Mavericks with that account, now that Lion is "linked" with it.

However, before spending money on an outdated version, I want to know if that's even going to do a thing, I'm not sure simply buying Lion over the Apple Store is going to allow me to install Mavericks instantly? What if I still recieve the very same message?

Edit: Before, when I used Mountain Lion, I could use any Apple ID I'd like and I wouldn't get a message about not having Lion on this Apple ID.

Is there perhaps any way to reinstall Mountain Lion, and then install Mavericks? It looks like Startup Disk has also updated to Mavericks, so it's not Mountain Lion like it was before I did the first install earlier.

Thanks in advance,

Alexander
