It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears. Another bug?

I'm having a similar issue. My exchange account seems to be causing a run-away process on Mavericks similar to one that was present a few releases back. After a while my Late-2008 MacBook Pro just starts going nuts trying to check accounts, and this all stops when I remove the Exchange account.
It's a shame this one has reappeared. I'd guess someone didn't port the Exchange fixes properly 😟
I upgraded from 10.8 with an exchange account setup in mail. No problems for me.
I am having the same issue. Tried switching fetch from Automatic, to 1 minute to manual and it doesn't help. 25% of the time it will refresh when I click the 'Get new' button.

Looks like there's some cases when the Mail folders get corrupted / don't migrate cleanly between versions. Removing them and allowing Mail to re-download seems to be the fix here...
Same issue here, seems considerably worse when not on the LAN.
Same issue. I have found out that if I go to Mail - Account and re-enter my password, it will download my latest mail. So for some reason, it's not keeping the password or fetching correctly

Havent tried removing exchange account as yet as previous experience suggests this can be painful in and of itself.
Same problem here ... No new mail is loaded unless you close and re-open the mail app ...
I'm also experiencing this issue with Mavericks Mail. Exchange 2012 is the server. Have to close & re-open the mail app to get new mail.
Same here plus the Upgrade deleted part of subfolders which were locally stored.
Also same problem here. I'm now running Outlook for Mac 2011 as a temporary solution...
And now closing and opening the app againg doesn't work either anymore ... I went back to Outlook for Mac 2011 as well. Don't see another way out.
Same issue as JeanVis and others. Has anyone on this thread filed a bug with apple regarding this issue?
Tried switching to outlook for mac but that's not usable at all. (It just crashes or hangs whenever I try to use it.)
I thought part of the problem might be my mailbox size; total for my account is 18gb. But it seemed to work fine before upgrading to Mavericks.
Anyone else with similarly large mailboxes out there?
Ditto. I must manually tell mail to look for Exchange messages or nothing ever happens. Even when it does get a message nothing shows up in the notification center and there is no alert or banner.
I spent 2 hours on live chat with apple support today.
Removed exchange account and replaced. no fix.
Reset my keychain. (a pain by the way to reinter all the passwords) no fix.
Moved up to a supervisor tech...sent him the report from Connection Doctor in mail. no fix.
he said he wants to check with engineering and email me back. waiting..
