Q: Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears.  Another  bug?

    Hi,

I've been experiencing the Mail problem whereby it won't send an email with attachments. The send "times out" and asks you to select a mail server for retrying. When you re-select Exchange, the mail is then sent OK.

Just for the record, I've now installed the 10.9.2 update and the problem appears to have been fixed - I can now send mails with attachments (only up to 2MB tested) and they are sent without retrying...

Am glad that this annoyance finally seems to have been fixed...

Unfortunately OSX 10.9.2 and Mail 7.2 is still broken - or maybe it's only half fixed.

Mail using an Exchange Account sends and receives OK but there is no Sent Email registration in the Sent folder!?

    Doh!

Apple Software Quality has definitely taken a plunge... 3 months to fix this and it's still no good.  What a shame.

My initial test is in agreement re sending attachments, without the initial error message. But the more important issue of slow inbound email and slow to no delete sync is still an issue. And why, if ANYTHING relating to Exchange compatibility was fixed, wasn't it articulated in the release notes? Why should we all be guessing? Four plus months after Mavericks was released?

I tested 10.9.2 and it still will not allow me to send large attachments.  I tried 3.1, 6.2, 9.3 mb attachments and could send 3.1 and 6.2 but. 9.3 would not send.  The message says the file is to large for the exchange server or the receipents mailbox is full.  Same old problem.  Bummer Apple.  I know that exchange server will take up to 20 mb because I can send them through outlook in Windows using Parallels, through the same system to the same receipents.  It will not send with outlook for Mac or Mac mail.

Actually got Mail7.2 working OK with Exhange... ie Sent email registering in Sent Folder

I needed to do the folowing: (force a re-registration in Mail7.2 of the Outgoing Mail Server)

    Mail>Preferences>Accounts

    > Change Outgoing Mail Server and note the original server setting (most probably set from the Exchange Server).

    > From the pull-down menu select "Edit SMTP Server List..."

    > Select another SMTP Server and click OK. Then close Mail Preferences

    > Mail asks you to confirm update. Confirm it

    > Go back into Mail> Preferences and select the original server setting and close Mail Preferences

    > Mail asks you to confirm update, Confirm it.

Mail should all work OK.  I have sent emails with more than 10Mb attachments.  Everything is registered as it should be in the Sent Folder.

After having upgraded to 10.9.2 and Mail 7.2 the issue with exchange accounts persits. After few minutes the messages recieved via exchange disappear from the preview screen. So i closed/ reopened the app and the mails came again for a short period...

After Apple has launched 8 Beta-Versions of 10.9.2 to the developers its hard to grasp that the flaws about exchange and mail still are not fixed.

Nothing i read in this thread had really helped me. Only the IMAP- based accounts are working properly.

Any help is highly apreciated, otherwise i return to Outlook 2011.

    Thanks in advance

    I will continue to test.

Well, reading all these comments I am glad I have decided to move back to ML two months ago. That seems to be the only way to do something so incredibly new and sophisticated like sending e-mails on a Mac. I am flabbergasted that Apple has not fixed this within 4 months and after the second update, plus it does not communicate the problem with its customers.

Mavericks 10.92 Mail now handles Exchange mail with or without attachments just as well as it did with ML on each of my machines. Large site with > 2000 clients.

acarruthers, What did you do to get Mavericks 10.92 to work? I am the IT Manager at my company, and our owner has had problems with this Apple Mail connecting to Exchange throughtout 3 versions of Mac OSX. This problem is getting very very old. We are using Exchange 2007 SP3. Everybody else is working fine, and has been. Nothing has changed in our Exchange Environment, but yet with every OSX upgrade, Apple Mail breaks a little more. Now, the issue he is having is if he sets Apple Mail to automatically check for mail, no mail every comes in or goes out. If he sets it to 1 minute, it seems to work. I read an article posted above in this thread, and it was an Apple support article stating to take all accounts offline then get all new mail. I can't believe this is the santioned Apple fix. Any help or insight you can provide as to how you got it working would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    petebas

I've been following since this thread was on a single page I can say that 10.9.2 still isnt perfect because messages still aren't as fast as activesync but maybe we're just setting our sights too high since EWS and ActiveSync are actually different connection methods just like pop vs. IMAP. However, since it is synced with exchange have you tried deleting the appropriate file inside the ~/library/Mail/V2/EWS-youruser@yourdomain.com

I did find that I needed to do this on my own to get the full benefits of any of the upgrades released. As of now my only gripe is the delay in messages being delievered to my inbox but I also have the settings set to check every minute.

Switch to outlook2013 for Mac and drop Mac Mail. It will take a while to populate then all will be fine.

    @zloibubr

have deleted the account settings in preferences/internet accounts and added a new one.

Few minutes after opening mail and reloading all messages happens this:

    Screenshot_Mail.png

Where are the 112 unread messages? apprently stuck on their way from my server (Exchange 2010) to the client.

    nevertheless thanks for the advice

deleting the file in the EWS- folder doesn´t fix it in my case.
