May 15, 2015 10:42 PM in response to dgennaroby NivekRegnir,In the UK we have:
84 21 2 351 307 Basic
84 21 2 351 307 Connect
84 21 2 289 717 Media
84 21 2 289 718 Connect
The 307 is completely plain black plastic. The other three all have what appear to be silver or white inlays where the top and bottom of the iPhone secured and another inlay under the iPhone with what appears to be a speaker in it. The 717 has the word MEDIA stamped in the lower inlay near the bottom of the phone. The 307 inlay under the phone extends the full length of the recess under the phone whereas the 717 and 718 only cover about ¾ of the recess.
Can anyone list the different functionality of the different adapters?

May 16, 2015 5:35 AM in response to NivekRegnirby wegras,Why not ask your BMW Dealer ,they are BMW accessories after all .
Most Dealers now have Geniuses ( like Apple Stores ) ,who can explain or ask the parts department specialist and with your VIN they will tell you the correct snap-in for your spec and also if not a new car whether the snap-in box needs changing to take a iPhone5 Snap-in
One of the differences is price

Aug 5, 2015 11:04 AM in response to ezaircon4jcby Chippy99,I have just bought from ebay (could not bear the BMW retail price) a snap in adapter for my BMW 640D (F13, manufactured April 2015). The unit I bought - which I think is the right one - is an 84 21 2 289 718.
It *sort of* works. Sometimes.
I can access the music on the device and sometimes get some sound out of it, but it is flaky. Half the time, the files refuse to play and I get no album art; the other half of the times it plays fine. The BMW connected apps work fine. Altogether, a bit mixed and I will stick to playing my music off a 64GB USB stick, which works flawlessly.
But my question is this: Are you supposed to use Bluetooth for your phone connection when using the snap-in adapter? I bought the adapter mainly to charge the iPhone (check) and use the car's antenna. I had assumed with the wired connection through the adapter, I would not need to be connected via Bluetooth, but if I switch Bluetooth off, then I can't use the phone. Is this normal? How do I know the iPhone is using the car's antenna and not its own?

Apr 8, 2016 3:40 AM in response to WildClydeby 26stefel,Hi!
Does the adapter still work? What software is installed in the BMW? I have the same problem as you had. Did you leave the car locked with the iPhone in the adapter? Best regards 26stefel
