Is there a DMG download for Safari 6.1?

I manage a network which has around 60 Macs on it. Safari 6.1 was released yesterday along with a few other updates for Mountain Lion. Usually with OS updates, Apple provide a DMG to download at apple.com/downloads (There's one for iTunes 11.1.2 and Remote Desktop 3.7.0) but there isn't one for Safari.

I manage my Macs using a plugin for Microsoft SCCM. I usualIy push updates and software out using this. I don't want to have to go around to 60 Macs and trigger an update by hand. Have Apple released a DMG for Safari 6.1 and if not, why not? It's bad enough not being able to centrally manage App Store updates, now you can't for OS updates either?

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Safari no longer comes as a separate download unfortunately. I've searched for it more than once.

There's a link to a pkg file for 6.1 in the standard SUcatalog : change the url, obviously... and note that these usually make no installation checks before starting, so will likely 'work' and spoil an unsuitable system.

With 60 macs, you might consider running an SU server locally.

You don't want to install Safari 6.1 until they go to 6.1.x. I think Safari 6.1 has broken a number of things related to java. I am too am trying to figure out how to downgrade back to 6.0.5. Hopefully time machine will work. If you have that many macs to support, I would suggest a server.

Did you not see the bit where I said I manage the Macs using a plugin for SCCM? It's an order of magnitude better than what Apple provide with OS X Server and ARD.

Is there a 6.0.5 Safari download package? Is there a way to uninstall 6.1 and install 6.0.5 cleanly? Thanks for this!

The first response from "shape" helped me. I'll try pasting it in here:

umm, sorry but reinstalling the entire OS just for 1 app is not at all so simple and will most likely create a lot of headaches for you. google "safari 6.05 download" and try this link: https://www.macupdate.com/app/iphone/15675/apple-safari

then use Pacifist to downgrade to the older version:http://www.macworld.com/article/1161367/revert_Safari.html

just ignore the version #s for this article. i've used Pacifist a couple times to downgrade to older versions of Safari. this isn't the first time Apple has made the newer versions less functional and more buggy...

Hi,

I never reply to these things, but I too somehow lost Safari 6.1 and I typed this in the browser url http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/18/32/041-6651/147ugedbeiqpz43czixlgawa yfoa7tjyjv/Safari6.1MountainLion.pkg downloaded it and opened it up on my desktop. Long story short, it worked great. Thanks Andy.
