Quicktime on Mavericks outputs stuttering audio.

Also some of my video files need "converting" before they play on quicktime. Thus I'm using VLC for now. No stuttering problems with iTunes sound or audio. When will Quicktime be fixed? And is anyone else having these problems?

Let's hope they fix these issues soon. Regarding video, the problems to (1) have thumbnails, (2) preview files by hitting the space bar, and (3) play files without prior conversion by QuickTime, encompass a wide range of codecs, including MOV, MP4, MXF, F4V, FLV, etc.

Before installing Mavericks, I could preview and play virtually all kinds of files. Now it is all the way around: most of the files cannot be previewed nor played without a highly inconvenient prior conversion. For video and audio professionals, these issues are a BIG step backwards.

Marcel, please remember the issues affect not only audio but also video. Most video files have lost their thumbnail and they can no longer be previewed nor played without prior conversion by QuickTime. This encompass many MOV, MP4, MXF, F4V, FLV and other codecs. As a video professional, I would have not installed mavericks, had I known this would happen.

Thanks for all the info above guys. I found this thread when I was trying to find the reason why I can't ask Quicktime to be my default video player in QT preferances. I have MPEG Streamclip installed and now, whenever I double click a video file it opens in MPEG Streamclip. It's driving me mad as I'm here editing with clients and trying to play them exports. There are no thumbnails for my videos and I have to right click and use Open With.

This is all part of the new problems with Mavericks I guess?

I didn't upgrade on my main machine because of these inevitable teething problems, but I just bought a new 15" and I have no choice on this one at the moment!
