Quicktime on Mavericks outputs stuttering audio.

Also some of my video files need "converting" before they play on quicktime. Thus I'm using VLC for now. No stuttering problems with iTunes sound or audio. When will Quicktime be fixed? And is anyone else having these problems?

I am having the same problem. Quicktimes are also no longer able to open in Preview which I use for my job constantly and must be "converted" before viewing even though they're .mov files that worked PERFECTLY in Quicktime before the OS X Mavericks update.

This is VERY disappointing to discover along with the audio stuttering and popping. I hope these issues are rectified immediately in an update. It's sad that I'm having to use VLC, a non-Apple product to watch Apple formatted video files.

Yes. Same issue.

In Safari, play a youtube ( seems to be any ) video in mp4 format -> distorted, sputtering echoey sound.

Right click on said video and restore flash :- plays fine

Download above video in mp4. Play in QT player. -> distorted, sputtering echoey sound.

Play downloaded file in VLC. Perfect.

There seem to be quite a few problems with Mavericks, maybe the rumours that they are already working on a rushed update are true. This video problem seems rather basic.

Other things noticed.

If I play the dowloaded video via either with quick preview or just clicking the play button in the finder image it works fine.

Opening it, on its own, in the standalone QT player the distortions are still there. However if I play it as above while another video is playing the distortion disappears. Stop the secondary video and after a few seconds the distortion reappers. Rather odd.

This is HUGE BUG in Mavericks. I am a video animator/editor and i export ALLWAYS from After Effects to uncompressed Quicktime .mov files. The Quicktime codec is called "Animation" and it was allways thid codec that we had to use for Full Quality of the video. There was never a problem for prreview or Quicktime playback or even import FinalCut. Now are we gonna change after alll this years? I see that the converted video is Apple ProRes 4444 now and i am sure that there might be a compression with this codec. I might have about 1000 "animation" .mov files in my disk, what am i supposed to do? I am expecting asap a reply on this issue. Thank you. Besides this problem i believe mavericks is wonderful! And please enable back the 2D Dock option with terminal patch or whatever (2d dock on the bottom)

Just Realised that "Animation" .mov files will still play OK and realtime at Final Cut (i opened an old project of Mountain Lion) . No need to convertion or whatever. I had to check this to be sure: If you right click " Reveal in Finder " , this .mov will not preview in finder and will need convertion to play in Quicktime. Instead the same exact movie will playback ok in Final Cut Pro X without convertion or anything!

Same problem. I am an animator and director. All but a small handfull of my video files "convert" when I try to open them. The messed up part is that they are already .mov files. Then it wants to save it again? Do you people know how many of these I have? Are you trying to sell more Hard Drives or something. Fix this quickly, I'm on a deadline and don't want to have to convert 100s of shots and re-import them into my editing software. This is a total waist of time. This is Apple software, it should work seamlessly with OSX. 😠😠😮

You are supposed to be the audio visual masters???? Not this time!!!!

Yes,totally agree. We do not discuss here about mpeg2,mpeg4 or whatever 3rd party Codec that has problem to edit or playback even. This i understand and i never complain Apple for advise me to convert to .mov for RealTime editing/playback etc. Now we speak about a 100% apple Codec (Animation and i don't know yet if more codecs have problems) that cannot playback pure in OSX so this i believe is a huge problem!

Yep, me too....same prob. Noticed it first when I was doing a quick preview of my iMovie Events .mov files. No longer able to view them without "converting". This is a large Library on an external Drive...which brings me to another problem with Mavericks and iMovie. No longer supports external drives (ie. NAS). So, that's two major Video related issues.......hoping Apple can resolve them quickly in the next update.
