Q: How to customise toolbar in Pages 5?

Hi, I have the new Pages 5, but would like to customise it to put the Print button on the toolbar. Have I missed something, it seems to have disappeared from the View section?

Thanks

I think it has contextual toolbars (or some such thing). I like the ability to customize the toolbar -- contextual doesn't cut it.

I can't find it either. Second feature to go missing with an upgrade.

This has completely soured me on the iWork product. I have been using Microsoft Word since 1989 and it has always had customizable toolbars. What a stupid idea to take that away

    Same thing for me.

For now I'll uninstall iWork Mavericks edition and move back to iWork 09, I need the customized tool bar feature for productivity improvements.

It seems fully stupid and a pure regression to have removed this feature, Im' sure that there is a new way to get the feature back, I can't imagine that Apple has removed it.

    Let's see

Turns out, this is one of dozens of things that have been removed from iWork. However, the install did not delete iWork 9 on my computer, which still runs perfectly fine. The new version does hammer the files, however, so you have to find an older version of the file to work with

the rest of Mavericks is good, just not the new iWork.

It seems it wasn't my imagination.  Bummer.  Well at least it made me learn the keyboard short cut which is actually even quicker.  But they should have put that in the 'How To' section.

When the rest of the world is focused on allowing us more customisation, Apple decides to give us less!  Hmm.

Yah, I suppose it isn't the end of the world -- a keyboard shortcut is pretty easy.  On the whole, the new design will take a bit of getting used to.  It seems to me that Pages (and the other iWork apps) have been stripped down a bit.  I'm guessing that this is in order to make them more compatible with the online versions and iCloud sharing.

I use pages and keynote for teaching chemistry.  I like adding shortcut buttons to superscript buttons to the toolbar.  Going through the menu is more time consuming.  Same goes for layering options and instant alpha options.  This type of change is going to make people who were happy with the product look for alternatives.

    Hi Hilary

I have had the same issue - you can change the toolbar on Numbers and add 'Print' but not on Pages which seems mad.

I have searched the system and cannot find a work around or any other solution - a real retrograde step in my view and of others I'm sure

More than a bit.  Dozens of features have been removed from Pages 5, so of them very, very basic- like a vertical ruler, or facing pages view.

You're also right about why they did it- but does that make it okay?  Read these boards- it's a nightmare.

Pages 4.3 is still located in an iWork Folder within your Applications Folder.  I recomend that for getting any work done.

The alternative is still in your Applications folder, in a folder called "iWork 09."

Toolbar customization has been removed along with many, many other even more fundamental features.  I'm sorry.
