Changed Apple ID email, now can't login to iCloud/iMessage on iPhone 5

I changed my email address on my apple ID and removed it from the account (it was an old email address that I no longer know the password to). I changed iCloud, iMessage and iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but my iPhone 5 will not let me enter the new email address to login. Please help.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2
