Oct 28, 2013 1:33 AM in response to wasilausby Thomas B. Robison,"Finishing Sync" seems to be what many have discovered. It HAS finished syncing, it's just stuck in the mode (mood).
Just hit the eject icon and you should be good to go.

Oct 28, 2013 9:32 PM in response to Tony in Ottawaby drjwr,Same thing with new 5s. Neither restoring the phone, nor "repairing" iTunes, nor deleting and reinstalling iTunes has solved the problem. The sync seems to have finished but iTunes remains stuck in that mode. It's official; it's a bug. (Running 64 bit Windows 7 Pro)

Oct 29, 2013 2:21 AM in response to iblecherby Ramo666,Thank you, you're suggested fix worked for me.
Although really (state the bleeding obvious!) we should not have to find "work arounds" like this to solve such issues. I-Tunes Support / Developers hope your reading these posts and a working update is released ASAP.

Oct 29, 2013 2:54 PM in response to Tony in Ottawaby JCALOVER,You need to Restore your phone.
In iTunes In the Summary tab of the sync page in the first square besides Check for Update, click Restore iPhone. Make sure that you have a backup in place and that Find My iPhone is turned off...
Find My iPhone is in Settings-iCloud at the end...
It may take long but it worked great for me.
Take care.

Oct 29, 2013 10:05 PM in response to Tony in Ottawaby drjwr,Nothing works -- restoring phone, deleting and reinstalling 11.1.2, or any odd work-around -- on my 5s. The problem never arose once prior to the 11.1.2 update and exists for me continuously since then. The ultimate rather than proximate fix would be an overhaul of the oldest, clunkiest, and least aesthetic Apple product that I know.

Oct 30, 2013 10:38 AM in response to Tony in Ottawaby Morac,It's a bug in iTunes plain and simple. It doesn't cause any problems and there's no reason to do restores or anything else as it's simply a problem with the GUI. Just wait for the sync button to re-enable and you'll know sync is done.

Oct 30, 2013 6:44 PM in response to Moracby B504,I think it's a conflict between iPhone iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, and the sync that we're using from the standalone iTunes. I turned off my iPhone WiFi Sync, and the problem went away.

Oct 30, 2013 9:46 PM in response to B504by Jonathan Rayson,I was having the same syncing problem with my 4S, iTunes 11.1.2 and iOS 7.0.3. Time after time, it would hang up during the "Finishing Sync" process. No new music would be added, nor would playlists be updated.
I went to the Music tab and unchecked "Sync Music." When I did, I got the warning asking me if I wanted all music to be removed from the device. I said yes and did another sync. After doing so, it still was getting hung (although the sync button became active again), and there were still a couple of playlists and songs left on the device (as well as an audiobook). I went to the Books tab and unchecked "Sync Audiobooks" and clicked "Apply." After the sync, once again it was hanging and the sync button became active.
Here's what I think helped: On the iPhone, I deleted the remaining playlists and songs by swiping over them (just as you would delete an email). From then on, when doing a sync, it didn't get hung anymore...Completed the sync process very quickly.
I then re-checked "Sync Music" and "Sync Audiobooks" on their respective tabs and re-selected the playlists and music that I wanted to sync, and everything synched as normal. All new music was added and playlists were updated upon re-uploading.

Oct 31, 2013 4:30 AM in response to Tony in Ottawaby rickh1,I'm having similar problems. Reset everything, restored the phone etc. Still occasionally long syncs.
I think they have fundamentally changed the way the sync works. My 'other' section of data used to grow extremely large as I continued syncing or if a sync failed and I used to have to restore my phone after a while to get that 'other' section reduced. I have noticed the 'other section seems to now be signifigantly reduced and not growing. I think itunes is now taking time after the sync and going through and trying to clean up those files. I have left my phone in that state syncing overnight and it does eventually end. When I let it do that the other section is reduced to just a sliver.
If that is what is actually going on I wish they would have an option to do a sync and deep clean or just a normal sync because I don't want to wait hours to sync just to grab a couple of podcasts as I'm trying to leave for work in the morning.
