Nov 3, 2013 7:35 PM in response to brinnieby spirographer,THIS WORKS! I've tried all of the easy fixes described for this problem, but clicking the Reset button in the advanced tab of preferences is the only one that worked across 5 devices (1 iPad, 4 iPhones) iOS 4, 5, 6, 7.0.2 and 7.0.3
I don't know how you found this out, but thank you for saving me a lot of time!

Nov 3, 2013 8:17 PM in response to Rick.Aby Ptmac415,I literally cannot thank you enough right now! I've been ridiculuosly frustrated with this for the past 5 days....it all started when I imported a new album to my library, and iTunes wasn't syncing it to my iPhone. I kept checking and unchecking things in the settings based on "solutions" I was finding on the net, I restored my phone two different times, and nothing was working....this simple solution somehow worked. Can't thank you enough!
I really hope Apple fixes it soon, I wonder if they know?

Nov 4, 2013 9:11 AM in response to Ptmac415by Ken Zigler,Glad to see that we've got at least a temporary fix here. I just wanted to add that I just got off the phone with Apple Care re: this issue. BTW today is 11-4-13. Thery assured me that they are aware of this bug and that they are working on an update that will include a fix and should be out soon. For whatever it's worth.

Nov 4, 2013 8:29 PM in response to Tony in Ottawaby Dichio24,iPhone 4S, MBP Late 2011. Running the latest iOS and Mavericks software. All syncing gets hung up on step 6 of 6 and says "Waiting for changes to be applied". This goes for regular syncing, manual back ups, restores etc. All I want is to add newly downloaded songs!
This all started when downloading Mavericks, which brought along the newest iTunes update. I've gone through tons of suggestions on different comment sections but nothing seems to be working.
Any ideas?!?!
Thanks to all for already posting their fixes, and I'm sorry for whoever feels like they're repeating themselves.

Nov 5, 2013 5:08 AM in response to Tony in Ottawaby martindarby,I have had exactly the same problem for weeks with my iphone 5. Before you do anything - change you usb lead! I have been through apple supplort etc thinking it was an apple problem. I went on to someone elses computer (with thier lead) and problem solved. I am suprised apple havn't posted on this discussion as it may save you all a lot of time (and annoyance)
good luck

Nov 5, 2013 6:42 AM in response to martindarbyby tsurjatin,I dont think it is a usb lead problem. Looks like iTunes problem. I even lost my data during fail sync with my windows based comp.

Nov 5, 2013 10:02 AM in response to tsurjatinby rydelluk,Definalty nothing to do with the USB lead as I have tried two leads & both give the same result. iTunes 11.2.32 iPhone 4 win7 64bit Sync not finshing. Best solution is to click 'Backup' again itunes re-sync's again but finishes sync. Its a nuisance but I'm sure Apple will fix this bug on next release? Its been a long time tho & should have been looked into sooner tbh

Nov 5, 2013 2:38 PM in response to Tony in Ottawaby richsadams,Apple just pushed an iTunes update - v11.1.3. Has anyone tried syncing after updating?
The release notes say:
"This version of iTunes resolves an issue where the equalizer may not work as expected and improves performance when switching views in large iTunes libraries. This update also includes additional minor bug fixes."
Perhaps this this is one of the "minor bug fixes" to which they're referring.

Nov 5, 2013 3:20 PM in response to richsadamsby richsadams,Fixed with iTunes 11.1.3? I believe it is, at least for me.
I just updated my 27" iMac (OS X 10.9) to iTunes v11.1.3, rebooted and ran permissions repair (habit).
I connected my iPhone 5s (USB) and it raced to step 5 of 6 then began copying a little over 1,000 tracks. It completed very quickly, moved to step 6 (finalizing) and finished. Took less than a minute. I unmounted the iPhone 5s and connected it once again, clicked on "Sync" and it finished steps 1 through 6 in a few seconds...back to the Apple logo.
I then connected our original iPad via USB. It went almost immediately to step 4 "Waiting for data..." and stayed there for about four minutes. It then started copying tracks, just shy of 4,000 of them...but very, very quickly. Completed copying in about three minutes, went to "Finalizing..." and done. Reconnected it, clicked on "Sync" and it went to Step 1 of 4, "Waiting for sync to start", then jumped to Step 4 of 4 and began copying 435 tracks. Raced through those in about 15 seconds and finalized instantly. I unmounted and remounted it once more. It copied the same 435 tracks again and finished in about 30 seconds. I've seen the "copy issue" previously; has to do with iTunes Match, so not part of the finalizing issue we've experienced.
Finally I connected my iPhone 4 (USB). It immediately started syncing...and went to step 5 of 5, "Waiting for changes to be applied" in about five seconds. It stayed on step 5 for another minute and then completed to the Apple logo. I unmounted and reconnected once more. It went from step one to step 5 almost instantly, stayed on step five for another minute and then finalized.
So all-in-all it would appear that iTunes v11.1.3 has addressed the "finishing sync hang" problem. I'll be interested to hear results from others as they chime in.
Fingers crossed, that's that.
