How to import styles in Pages 5?
In Pages 5, I cannot find the command to import styles from another document, or to create a set of "default" styles (other than Apple-provided ones) that show up in every document. Anyone know where this is? Thanks.

According to MacRumors this feature had been deleted.
Importing has been removed.
Default styles would be part of any Pages template you create.
You probably still have Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder.

So how can someone import styles from another document? Some of us have fairly complex styles which we have been using for a rather long time and would prefer to be able to continue to use them.
As per your other post, copy and paste is the only way in Pages 5.
Import them in Pages '09 then open that in Pages 5.
Which raises the eternal question "Why bother with Pages 5" particularly when it can't do most of what Pages '09 does and is really incompatible with just about everything including most other Macs.

That's what I thought. Pages 09 was an excellent word processing and layout application. Pages 5.x is a mediocre at best layout app which has some basic word processing features. They're not even close to one another.
heighho, 'tis MS Word for me when Pages 09 stops working. Which it will, probably with the next major OS update. Unless Microsoft insists on forcing its 'Office 365' cloudy stuff on us, of course. If they do, then it's Open Office/LibreOffice/NeoOffice or something else which actually allows me to get my work done.
So many people losing time and patience in an attempt to make Pages v5 become a usable word processor — something it sorely is not.
Whether you do or do not have experience with MS Word, it is likely that the word processing functionality that you need right now, or at some point in the future, is already in Word as part of Office for Mac 2011 (and updates), and documented.
The whole point of Pages is not to have to use Mac Office, which is one of the most frustrating pieces of software ever created. I literally cannot have Word open for 10 seconds without a 5-second beach ball episode.
Unfortunately, Apple has deleted several features from Pages 5.x which were formerly present in Pages 09 and which are still present in Word 2011. These are features including import styles and mail merge which I use to make a living. I _must_ have those features in a word processor. Their absence means that I _cannot use that application for my work_. Apple has changed Pages so that I cannot use it for work.
It is quite clear that:
1 Apple deleted features which have been in previous versions of Pages, and in Apple/ClarisWorks, and in Word, for over a decade.
2 Apple did this without warning.
3 Apple shows no sign whatsoever of putting those features back.
4 I had better get used to using Word unless I want to get used to not eating.
