Help center is not working in Mavericks

While my update on a late-2012 MacBook Pro has gone reasonably well, I now find that the Help system is broken for all applications, including the built-in ones.

I would guess that the Help System process is failing to launch at start. Anyone else with this issue, and/or a possible solution? Thanks.

I will try another restart to see if that changes things, will update post.
