But many Mac users have a problem after upgrading to version 10.9. Maverick!!

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5480881?start=0&tstart=0

Conclusion: The problem is that in the new version 10.9, but not in Windows XP. ((( Users do not have to update Windows XP.

Please, return to the previous protocols to print out version 10.8!!!

As I said, your chances of Apple fixing this are slim. Windows XP is old. Mavericks is new and works fine with Windows 7 and Windows 8. So either update Windows, get a new printer or go back to 10.8.

I recently updated to Mavericks and am having basically the same problem with a network printer, Canon iR-ADV C5030/5035. I tried the various fixes that have been suggested in this thread, but to no avail.

I installed the updated drivers, and am now using the Canon iR-ADV C5030/5035 driver -- not the UFR II driver, as you suggested. This seemed to get me a little farther, in that now the print utility finds the printer and says it's "connecting." However, it still doesn't complete the job, and the printer eventually pauses itself.

    Any ideas?

Can you open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and select Printers in the left column. If you have more than one printer, select the ADV C50xx from the top right pane. The bottom right pane will show information about the printer. Can you select this information, copy and paste it back here please.

    Here's the printer information:

Thanks for that. It shows that the print queue is using port 8443. This is not a default setup for the Canon driver so did you create the queue to use this port?

Yes, I had to use an IP address to find the printer. It didn't show up in the default printers pane. Is this the problem, do you think?

  • benedict-regent Level 1 (0 points)

That WAS the problem!! I deleted 8443 from the address and it works. Thanks so much for the help!!

The iR copiers don't support the Bonjour protocol, so they don't appear in the Default view of the Add printer browser. So adding the printer by selecting IP > LPD is the norm for adding the iR series.

But did you type 172.16.8.199:8443 or just 172.16.8.199? Because if you look at the information you provided, the URI section shows the address as lpd://172.16.8.199:8443

I asked our system admin for the IP address, and that was what he gave me. However, I simply deleted the 8443, and it solved my problem. I'm extremely grateful for the help!

I am a new Macbook user running Mavericks.

I have a C3380 that I have had no problem connecting to with Windows machines. When I added the printer to the Macbook, I select IP, LPD, and the IP address. OS wants to install as default PS. I select the 10.2 driver I downloaded today from the Canon site.

The error is that it cannot connect to the printer. However, I am able to view options (which are correct) supply levels, etc. I can access the printer's admin page by browsing to the IP address directly.

I am sure I am missing something simple. Any ideas?

    Thanks ahead of time.

I figured it out - not an OS problem - a printer configuration one.

There is a new version of this UFR II - Printer driver: http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100491502.html

=> it automatically removes all old printer driver before re-installing...

Important is the step with: "Use: select software" and then chose your printer model - mine was for example the Canon iSensys MF-8450 which now works again like a charm!  :-))

I'm very unhappy how Canon handels this process of keeping their printer drivers up to date - I'm moving on to Lexmark (X610) which has a much more user friendly user interface....

Hi There, I have downloaded the driver for the iR - ADV C5030/C5035 but I get the error message "Unable to verify the printer on your network." Unable to connect to 192.168.1.26 due to an error - would you still like to create the printer

    Any suggestions would be welcome!

    Thanks.
