uninstall maverick

How can I uninstall Mavericks? I use software daily that is not currently supported with Mavericks and is required to complete my job. I can not wait for the develoiper to release a patch (they said it would be awhile).

I need to revert to mountain lion. I tried CMD R when booting but it only gives me the option to reinstall Mavericks. I only have access to a windows machine now. How can I revert back to Mountain Lion? Is there a link to a image for mountain lion somewhere on Apples website that I can not find? Is there a trick in Recovery Mode to choose mountain lion instead of Mavericks?

Boot into Internet recovery mode, +OPTION+R, and you can restore the OS that shipped with the machine. Alternatively, restore the bootable backup/clone or TM backup of your previous MLion installation.

thanks so much penutz. I'm not sure about this. I did do a back up yesterday to an external drive after I upgraded to Mavericks. I can do another one today. So now Mavericks is on the Hard Drive in my Mac. Can you help? Do I erase that drive then? Is there a way to just see the partition and delete it. I'm pretty new to Macs. I think when you say it was essentially a brand new drive, you are saying you erased the HD? When I go into Disk Utilities, I do have a BASE SYSTEM that has Mountain Lion on it, and then there is the Mac HDD.

I hope I'm making sense. When you say you deleted the partition with Mavericks OS on it, what exactly did you do? Thanks again.

Hello,

I recently ordered my first Mac, a 15inch rMBP, however I was disappointed to find out several CAD applications I use regularly are not supported.

My MBP will ship with Mavericks already installed, is there a straightforward way for me to downgrade to Mountain Lion right from the start?

I will upgrade in a few months once third party devs catch up, so I wouldnt mind rebooting to a Mavericks default by that point.. I don't want to lose the free iWork/iLife etc.

If someone could shed a little light onto the matter I would appreciate it, I wanted to avoid making a new topic since this thread was relevant.

Hi Jim M91:

If your MBP is coming with Mavericks installed then your "base system" will be Mavericks so you will not be able to downgrade to Mountain Lion - it won't be on the machine at all. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but that is my best guess after upgraded to Mavericks and reverting back to Mountain Lion. But I had Mountain Lion originally.

Apple is one of the most customer service oriented companies out there, so maybe you could explain your situation to them and eighter cancle your order or get them to ship it with Mountain Lion.

My issue is Pages which I work with every day and find the new format which seems to be associated with the new OS, to be more labor intensive and therefore less efficient for me, otherwise I would perfer to be up to date with everything including the OS. Like you, I will wait until some of the bugs are fixed, and the development takes place.

Hope this helps.
