ipad will not sync songs from imported CD's

I have updated my ipad 2 with the latest IOS and now, as of yesterday, it will not sync the songs from my computer that were imported from CDs (kind=MPEG audio file). All other itunes (Kind=puchased AAC) songs will sync. I have turned it on and off, restored it, restarted itunes, restarted my computer, etc. Nothing seems to work. These songs do show up in the itunes library on my ipad in light grey with a red circle beside it with a red square in the middle, but they will not play. Nothing happens when I click on this red circle/square. Yes my PC is authorized. I sync new songs almost every day so I know this just started with this newest IOS release.

I have tried Wi Fi syncing. Nothing. I tried manually syncing and dragging the song from my library to the ipad. Nothing.

If the songs show up in itunes on your pc, and wont play, then it has nothing to do with ios.

Have you tried importing the cd's into itunes again?

I am not willing to import the CDS again. I have hundreds of them. Upon more research, I am seeing that this is a big problem with a lot of people. I believe it has everything to do with the latest ipad IOS update because the problem showed up immediatly after. Nothing else has changed.

Thanks. I restored from my icloud backup and that worked. I also did another hard restore on my ipad.

I have the exact same problem as described: red square in red circle. It appears to be only for songs that I imported from CDs. I have tried restoring, etc. but they still appear. The songs are in iTunes and play in iTunes but they will not play on iPhone. In addition, when I sync, the process never completes - step 5 of 5 continues and does not end (Waiting for Items to Copy). I have latest ios and iTunes versions. I do not back up to the cloud but do have local backup. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Ditto. Same problem.

Started immediatly after IOS update. What a load of crap...

I've reset my Ipad 2, done all the sync, then dont' sync bla bla bla...

Dead ends..

Apple store and support have no clue...an endless rabbit hole...

Just an FYI. I was due for a new /upgraded to my phone, so I went and purchased the 5S. All the issues I previously described did not occur on the new phone. So I'm not sure if it is/was a hardware issue (my 4 was over 3 years old and had been dropped more than a few times), or there still is something wrong with the OS or iTunes. In any case, so far have not had a repeat of the issues I asked for help on.

De-sync all of your music with iTunes to remove it all from the device, reboot the device, then re-sync.

I had the issue and it was also resolved by syncing up a playlist followed by the rest of my songs. Cant see why that works though as when i tried just simply removing all songs, it didnt work. must be an issue with ios 7 rather than itunes though as ipod worked fine throughout,

I had the same problem, but in my case I think the key issue was that I signed up for iMatch and when I did that my songs from imported CDs went into the cloud. They were still on my Mac desktop via iTunes but disappeared from my iPad. I got them back by turning on iMatch on my iPad and synching to the cloud instead of my Mac desktop. Does this mean I am married to iMatch? Oh well. At least I can rock out to the Stones again, so yay.
