Nov 7, 2013 3:37 AM in response to Phyz 2by 1Azhar,Beautifully written. And I feel exactly the same.

In their corporate plea to stop the embarrasing barrage of scathingly accurate 1-star reviews of iWork apps, Apple makes no promise to fix what's truly broken: Apple's vision for Keynote.
Rather than being the vehicle by which users could create stunning, cinematic presos capable of emasculating an army of crouching PowerPoint users, Keynote now aspires to let users be mediocre on multiple devices across platforms.
*yay*
Why Apple's promise to throw Keynote users a bone doesn't give me hope:

Nov 7, 2013 8:33 AM in response to Derick Fayby bj4mac,Unfortunately, this has become a big issue for those of us who use these applications professionally. It runs along the lines of what Apple did with Final Cut Pro some years ago. I'm not sure how a company, with literally billions of dollars to work with, can't seem to hire people who will be more in-touch with their user base. Intentionally or otherwise, Apple continues to send the, not to subtle message, that a broader base of appeal is acceptable at the expense of its loyal (even professional) customers. This latest 'admission' is certainly a step in the right direction. But the rapid restoration of these applications to their full-functionality will express far more sincerity than a technical bulletin.

Nov 7, 2013 9:07 AM in response to Brent Kabatby Phyz 2,Apparently interactive QuickTimes can still be enjoyed by those using PCs. So PC users and non-Mavericks adopters still enjoy full function. Only Mavericks adopters are penalized.
Way to go, Apple!

Nov 7, 2013 10:04 AM in response to Kaypixby Klchatel,I was not able to import a Quicktime video with an alpha channel today. That's what brought me to this forum. I was wondering if there was a fix that I wasn't seeing. I guess not. Other than that, my other favorite missing piece is the blur picture frame. I used that a lot to blend photos into backgrounds.
The only saving grace to this new keynote is the "Export to Keynote 09" feature. You gotta wonder if they didn't know they were going to screw up a lot of presentations.

Nov 7, 2013 11:52 AM in response to Klchatelby Klchatel,Another oddity (Keynote 13 seems to have a lot of trouble with transparencies) is that if you make a transparent shape and lay it over other images, you can't click the images in the back, even in the transparent section. You have to 'arrange' the transparent shape to the back. This might not seem like anything important, but I used to use shapes as guidelines for specific projects, like if I was creating a book cover or a wide-screen video. Not I can't see those guidelines. Anybody have a suggestion for a fix?

Nov 7, 2013 3:38 PM in response to Derick Fayby Mike-Support,In the previous version of Keynote, I was able to easily paste Keynote content (words, shapes, charts) into Photoshop CS6 & Illustrator CS6 as vector objects, of which the elements could be independently manipulated by releasing the clipping mask.
However, with Keynote 6.0, it appears the content mentioned above pastes into CS6 software as flat .tiff files with no option to convert to a vector smart object? Is there a way to force a vector object placement or does this new Keynote version not allow (and if so why eliminate such a convenient function as vector smart objects)?
Any suggestions? I'm hoping this feature will be added back in & included with Apples next release. Thanks for the help.

Nov 8, 2013 9:42 PM in response to GifuMarkby WobWong,Totally app zap 6 and reinstall 5 but even then, if you have run a presentation in 6, it will be stuffed. I had to go to my back up HD and reinstall everything to make it work.

Nov 9, 2013 9:23 PM in response to Derick Fayby Brent Kabat,I figured out how to run my Keynote5.3 interactive presentations in Quicktime an on Mavericks: Install Quicktime 7.
http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime
It works for me!
If you have Quicktime exports of your interactive Keynote 09's that you use and share or present, the old Quicktime 7 is your answer.
(NOTE: the new Keynote v.06 2013 that just came out does NOT have the capability to export interactive work to Quicktime. It only exports as a goofy, simple movie. The Quicktime 7 solution is for those wanting to use their Keynote-to-Quicktime exports from Keynote v5.3 2009 on their OS X Mavericks Macs.)
Keynote interactive Quicktime exports still work on Quicktime for Windows, but not on the latest OS X: Quicktime for Mavericks.
As many know, Quicktime exports of interactive Keynotes past and present no longer work like a "Keynote player" in Mavericks' new Quicktime. Your manual advances and buttons no longer do anything, and instead your Keynote just runs like a foolish movie.
Well, I downloaded and installed the old Quicktime 7 in Mavericks, and the installer puts it back in the utilities folder.
Right click your Keynote-to-Quicktime export, and the interactive presentation works like always and looks great.
- So, if you were to take your Keynote-to-Quicktime export to another Mavericks computer, you'd need to bring an installer for Quicktime 7 too. Not great, but...
- Bring your Keynote-to-Quicktime export to a Windows computer with Quicktime, it works perfectly, as always.
- Sending your Keynote-to-Quicktime exports to others in some way? --Then you'd better send a "Read Me" text that says it will only work correctly on Mavericks by installing Quicktime 7. And, maybe send them a link to the Quicktime 7 downloads site: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime
It'd be better if Apple fixed Mavericks Quicktime, but this will do for now. My years of Keynote exports work just as they always have!
Hope this helps some of you.

Nov 13, 2013 11:27 AM in response to Derick Fayby freddyvore,I learned that when you upgraded to Keynote 6, it left Keynote 5 on your computer under Iwork/Applications. I was told that Apple is in the process of integrating Keynote 5 features into 6, but 6 is still Beta.
