Nov 26, 2013 5:38 AM in response to Capibaroby Phyz 2,It appears as if the real purpose of 6.0.1 was to reset the User Reviews at the Mac App Store. The scathingly accurate 1-star reviews of 6.0 have now been diluted into the "All previous versions" pool, where they're defanged by their proximity to the glowng reviews of version 5.
Apple pushed the reset button on reviews. Only reviews of 6.0.1 are shown as current. Brilliant!
And what sparkling new innovations did Apple implement in 6.0.1? A customizable toolbar! Can you imagine? The "new" transitions? Blinds, Confetti, ... In short, nothing that wasn't already up and running in 5.3.
The genius is that whenever the 1-star reviews get too heavy, Apple can ladle out a few more 5.3 features and pound the reset button. Stripping features in 6.0 so that they can advertise them as "new" in incremental updates sets a new low in software develpoment. I don't even think Microsoft does *that*.

Spot on!! This 'update' is really a joke!! You know what this 'update' reminds me of?? A not-so-old Apple ad poking fun at Microsoft. Let me share the fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf81H4v4ByM

Nov 28, 2013 6:33 AM in response to Derick Fayby eugelit1,Vector graphic import/export is removed.
This is the importatn feateures tha make your graphic look sharp (not pixellated) when you zoom in!!!
A BIG mistake for Apple's famous attention to details.
Please help us to bring that back, or Keynote is dead to me!

Dec 5, 2013 1:52 PM in response to Derick Fayby designswim,You can't hold the space bar in order to move your position around the screen.
All in all, what a horrible update, the more I use it, the more I realize how much backwards, incompatible and broken digression this is. Nearly all my opld keynote files are corrupted and don't open?!
What the F***, Apple? You transfer some Apple Maps software UX people into the Keynote department?

Dec 5, 2013 7:56 PM in response to Derick Fayby bj4mac,I'm not sure this is the right place to request this, but since so many of us are frustrated with Apple over their recent update of Keynote, I have a request.
Can someone tell me the key components which need to be replaced on my MacBook Pro to make Keynote 5 work on my Mac? I have not yet upgraded to the new Keynote, and I have a complete backup of my entire hard drive prior to the Keynote update.
I just need to know which files & folders to copy to my Mac. I have all the data files moved, just the application specific resources are all I need to know about.
Since I suspect I'm not the only one in this situation, this might help others with this same issue.
Thanks!

Dec 6, 2013 9:02 AM in response to bj4macby Brent Kabat,I don't know what elements of Keynote 5 are in what folder, but all you need to do is reinstall it if you have the old disks. It still installs like it always used to, even on Mavericks.
Take care.

Dec 6, 2013 9:10 AM in response to eugelit1by Brent Kabat,For this post and others, I am not sure what we were all looking for in a "new" or updated version of Keynote. The old Keynote had been updated several times, always for the better with things like magic move and others. The new version 6 is just terrible, I know. But the old Version 5 still outdoes ANYTHING out there. Though we need to worry about compatablility erosion over time, just keep using Verion 5, and by all means keep up the attack on the App store ratings for the new Version 6. As has been mentioned, when Apple put out an update for the new (still terrible) Version 6, they reset the comments, so that all the negative ones dissapeared. If you have not negatively commented on the "updated" Keynote Version 6.0x, then please go do so; one-star the heck out of that thing!

Dec 6, 2013 9:11 AM in response to Brent Kabatby bj4mac,Unfortunately, I don't have the installer disks because it came preinstalled on my MacBook Pro a year and a half ago. I did manage to get an installer disk image of iWorks '09, but when I ran it the installation went fine, but when I went to launch Keynote I got the following message:
"Keynote cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Keynote works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."
So, apparently the iWork '09 installation image is older than my Mavericks OS X will allow.
This situation is frustrating because I have a complete clone of my Mac hard drive from which I can run Keynote, but this is not a workable solution. Which is why I'm attempting to copy over the correct ingredient to make it work on my MacBook Pro.

Dec 6, 2013 9:15 AM in response to Derick Fayby bj4mac,Does anyone have access to a disk image of iWork '09 which will run on Mavericks? This would be a big help to many of us who need to get back to work on our Keynote 5.3 presentations.
Thanks

Dec 6, 2013 10:36 AM in response to bj4macby Derick Fay,If you have a clone of your hard drive with a working install, can't you just copy over the Keynote bundle from the Applications folder on that drive?
And have you tried installing all the updates for the install off the disk that doesn't work?

Dec 6, 2013 11:39 AM in response to bj4macby Brent Kabat,A computer technician at my work attempted to extract the necessary elements to iWork 09 from a back-up drive to put on another computer --specifically for Keynote--and was never successful, even though he had a list of what to get and where to get the elements. And this was for moving the files into the same operating system, from an OS X 10.7 to another Mac with OS X 10.7. He was not successful at all.
There are over a hundred iWork 09 DVD install sets on eBay right now, going for $20 - $35. That'd be your best bet.
Before you launch Keynote 5 or any newly installed iWork 09, run all updates. I'd think it would work if all updates were run to bring it up to version 5.3. (Now, make sure you run "updates" to iWork 09, and not an "upgrade" to version 6...)

Dec 8, 2013 6:19 AM in response to bj4macby Newbby,You should first *completely* remove iwork'13 by tools like Appdelete/Cleanapp/AppZapper. Then reinstalling iwork'09 with your DVD/image will become possible on Marvricks (OS X 10.9). After that, you can even *update* again to iwork'13, and iwork'09 will be saved in your Application->iwork'09 folder.
