I have a million presentations with photos and videos set behind master objects.  It's one of my favourite features.

Version 6 can't present any of my keynotes.

Apple, you guys are idiots for this.  Free is too expensive.

Centered Canvas is WAY worth it. Having animations deal with the top and left made no sense when you couldn't stage objects out there.

Pathfinder IS new and I love it! Give me a way to drop and convert an .svg document and I've got all I need.

Making the change from the iWork XML from years back to the kinda "locked up" file that we have now took a LOT of work. Some things didn't make it into this cut, but it puts them in a GREAT position going forward. The future looks bright and when some of those features are added back (like Final Cut's blockpoint releases) folks will finally be able to drop the old version and move 100% into the new.

Also, when right-clicking on the canvas, the 'Paste & Match Style' option is gone. Now if I wan to do that, i have to press on Shift+Alt+Cmd+V. This is insane. Granted, Apple doesn't want to add new features. But why should they remove what was already present?!?!?

And the ruler appear in only one way. I like it to be centered.

I forgot about this one... yeah, you're right... another reason the Cusotmize Toolbar is REALLY missed.  I used the copy and paste style icons all the time in addition to the right click when I remembered it was there.

I just discovered that we lost Customize Presenter View. The Notes area is now worthless. I can only see about two lines. So frustrating.

The new keynote is driving me nuts!! I'm a college student & freelance keynote designer. I really care about this app. it's the one I use most. I'm sooooo deceived by this pseudo-upgrade. Does the programmer(s) who designed the new iWork even use it?? I don't think so.

And what about the information in the Builds Inspector Panel. Builds used to be labelled IN or OUT. Now you have to guess which is which! Why fix/break somethign that was working perfectly?? What I was  really lookign forward was like a 'Layers Inspector'. This would help place objects much more easily, rather than clicking 'Sent to back' and/or 'Send backward'.

The last time I was so ****** off with Apple is when they had released their Maps app on iOS, and removed Google's.

What pains me most is, that, at the end of the day, I feel that Apple doesn't give a d*mn about Mac users. OSX lately has really been the dumbing down of apps. Now the new iWork is like iWork for iOS.

For the love of God, Mr Cook, please, see to the matter.

The Builds Inspector observation is a good one.  I had not noticed it yet but would have soon. That seems like an easy thing to add back in an update.  Still wish it was more of a timeline panel.

That said, since the original '09 apps have not been deleted, I thought that I'd make Finder automatically open my iWork files with the previous apps. Guess what? You can't. I did try. I clicked on the box where it's written 'Use this app to open all similar files', but to no avail. There's no way (at least that i know of) to make Keynote 5.3 the DEFAULT presentation app.

Even if you delete the "new" Keynote?

Like I said earlier, my friend, I use Keynote almost on a daily basis. I'm a Keynote designer on oDesk, and this app is crucial for me.

This prompted me to try Keynote 6 on my laptop for the 1st time and rehearse a presentation.  After finding the option to show presenter notes under an icon in the upper right, they did display, with a control to adjust font size, a scroller, and an option to edit them without leaving rehearsal mode.

Just double-checked, and Keynote '09 had a smaller presenter notes display, with a scroller but no font or editing option.  Assuming that this works the same when actually playing with a projector, it seems like this is actually an improvement....Wish there were more.

I believe if I do, it will be possible. But I need it, just in case my clients have updated to the latest versions. At this time, I need both. But I want to make Keynote 5.3 the default. Actually, I would have gladly embrassed Keynote 6.0, had it not tossed out existent useful features.

If you click on the build, whether it's IN or OUT and which build it is gets shown in the inspector on the right. I agree that having a small IN and OUT might be nice, too, but it's workable for me.

  • 1Azhar Level 1 (0 points)

Sometimes I have up to 25 builds on a single slide. And trust me, it helps if it says which one is IN or OUT.

Also, the way the 'build list' was before was more intuitive. It might just be me, but I saw the previous one more intuitive. But on this one, i agree it's not crucial.
