Mavericks Crashing my iMac 2012

I have a 2012 iMac. Worked fine until today. Installed Mavericks and it seems to crash after just a few minutes of use. Thought it might be just Safari or emil, but after a process of elimination, it seems to crash whenever it wants.....few minutes of use.

I tried a Safe Boot mode, but it crashed half way through the process.

Just got off the phone with Apple... tested the disk, went through 3rd party software....nothing running that shouldn't be.

Need some help on this one. I'm surprised it let me go this long without crashing.

It just happened again while typing my reply. Using my iPhone now.

Anyway, I can't boot into Safe Mode. It stops about halfway through the process, reboots and takes me to the normal login page. Tried several times.

I may have SpectorSoft installed. Downloaded the program to put in my kids computer, but I don't think I have software in mine. I did a search and only found an email regarding it. No app is apparent.

I also did all the normal things.....verify permissions, verified the disk, etc.

also, it seems to crash (9 times out if 10) when I'm typing. I'm using an apple wireless keyboard. Just FYI

Anything look bad in the log report?

Not aside from SpectorSoft, which may be incompatible with Mavericks, but it should not be a factor in Safe Mode.

Please boot OS X Recovery by holding and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red.

I didn't know if you had it or not. I'm working off your statement of having installed SpectorSoft on your kid's computer. Yours may have a system modification to allow your computer access to theirs, and SpectorSoft's system requirements do not specifically indicate Mavericks compatibility.

It's a moot point if your Mac still crashes in Safe Mode though. If that's the case your suggestion regarding external monitor compatibility a factor. Mavericks implemented changes regarding additional monitor support that I have not yet tested.
