Raw files are way too slow compared to Mountain Lion on quick preview.
It's something that i use on a daily basis, and today was impossible to do it... :S Spinning wheel all the time.
Anyone has the same problem?

Make sure there aren't any RAW updates you're missing from software update.
how much RAM do you have?
have you tried relaunching finder?
I have the last update from Camera Raw, and i have restarted the laptop.
I can have on one folder, from 100 to 500 raw files.
Sorry i forgot to say that i have 16Gb of Ram.
And a 2.5Ghz Intel I5, macbook pro 13"
I have the same issue. The funny thing is that it was working well with OSX Maverics GM edition. Looks to be a bug. Its also happening on my MacMini.

It doesn't help have to wait 10s for each photo to preview.
Yep, same problem here. 5-second beachball when previewing any RAW file. Annoying for sure and quite unexpected.

Any solutions? I have same issue. I don't get a beachball though it just takes a second to switch between pics and it's not smooth like before.
Are you opening them in Preview or doing a QuickLook in Finder?
Hi. So far still the same. Im just using the quick look. But on moutain lion a Raw file didnt took so long to open. Neither the beachball. :s
I'm using JPGs and it's really slow. I'm referring to the Preview app instead of Quick Look in the finder. I use Preview because I can go though pictures and seperate quickly those that out of focus from the sharp pics. Quick Look is also slow.
Over half my SSD is free, so it's not space.
I attempted to use the Preview App from Mountain Lion, but Mavericks refused to let it run.
If I boot from my USB drive to 10.8.5 Preview is perfectly fine, even on the HD with Mavericks. I may just have to boot that way to sperate my pictures until a fix is issued or a setting is changed.

I'm annoyed with this. I consider this too buggy for release.
Bungled QL preview, no regular scrolling, etc.
Ah well, patience is one of the keys to happiness, yeah?
So far nothing new.
It's a little bit strange that they didn't saw this problem while testing...
