Does iDVD still work under Mavericks?

Has anybody checked it out yet? It sure appears that there's no update coming, so it would be good to know if compatibility will be broken with the OS upgrade.

EArth RAnger how do you create the DVD from the new mavericks in order to pull it into IDVD, I've tried everything. I created a movie before the maverick update but didn't burn it and now it doesn't have the option to share it in the media browser or even send it straight to dvd and when I do into Idvd it won't let me choose the movie because it's not prepared for it but what it tells me to do isn't possible in mavericks. HELP

imovie in maverick doesn't even give an option to export like you are showing. I simply want to take the movie I made and burn it to IDVD. It really makes me angry that Apple took this feature away. I love making my movies onto dvd's for people I don't want everything in the cloud and totally digital this ***** and I need this movie burned for a banquet.

Sorry - you are absolutely right; I was using the last iMovie version. I just played with the new iMovie 10 version and it does not have the same options. If you just downloaded that, you should still have the older version - I do.

I will not be using the new imovie 10; it lacks any/all features I use and it does not export in a .mov format for iDVD, but in mp4 which is good for other things, but not iDVD.

You could try to export to file in the new version; you'll then have an mp4 file and you'd need a converter such as MPEG Streamclip (read all their notes, I don't know if they're compatible with Mav yet) or Handbrake. Choose to convert it to a .mov file - you should then be able to drag it into iDVD. And, iDVD will automatically create a DVD which can be played in DVD players.

Question: why SD and 4:3? My footage is in full HD/widescreen (1080p on one camera and 720p on the other) and I've used those two settings exclusively for some time with iDVD? You can see the settings I use in my screenshots above (that is in iMovie 09); after checking out iMovie 10, I am not impressed with the lack of user control re. quality settings and/or editing, so I will continue to use iMovie HD with an occasional trailer, etc. in iMovie 09.

@ FShippey:

I tried that and was not able to get iDVD to recognize it. I had to use MPEG Streamclip. You can see the settings I usually use in my screenshots above (that would be in iMovie 09) - that results in an excellent quality .mov file.

Just habit. I've only used 4:3 video clips. Also I was thinking of the problems many had with getting widescreen video to stay widescreen in iDVD. That's something you, Bengt, Klaus1 and Fred know more about than I.

I agree about iMovie 10. The only version I use is the tried and true iMovie 6 HD, particularly for the ease of adding multiple audio tracks to a slideshow and the quality of video it provides to iDVD.
