iTunes 11.1.2 Painfully Slow

When I insert a CD to copy it to my iTunes it takes 1 minute and 40 seconds of spinning beach ball until the CD starts to be copied. This issue has just started since I updated to the latest version of iTunes a day or so ago. Is there anyone else experiencing this problem and more importantly is there a way to speed up this process?

The spinning ball of non response also continues for about 1 minute after iTunes does copy the CD and it has been ejected.

Some update!

I have the same problem. Just about any time you click in iTunes, you get a spinning beach ball. Select a playlist then click in the playlist window so you can select an album, up comes spinning beach ball. Once it goes away, type the first few letters of fthe selection you want, spinning beach ball. Click another playlist, spinning beach ball. It is unacceptable.

Before I upgraded to 11.1.2, I was getting frequent freezes of iTunes. I was hoping this would help, but I guess not.

Same problem. Pretty much anything in iTunes is taking much longer (~10x) than in the previous version.

Not sure if it is Mavericks or the new iTunes. I rebuilt my library yesterday, but that did not fix the slowness issue. This evening just closing an album took over 4 minutes (the beach ball didn't stop spinning until well after the song stopped). It would be really nice to have a fix for this.

Same problem here, since the last update, iTunes is so painfully slow that it's bordering on being unusable!

All the tidy up jobs I do everytime I upload a CD into my library now takes ages. It's so bad, that I gave up trying to complete the correction/retitling job I'd begun before the update. This really needs to be sorting out urgently because as it stands iTunes is no longer fit for purpose, as there's now a lag of anywhere between 5 to 30 seconds for it to perform virtually any specified task.

I am pretty sure that it is the newer iTunes. I had normal function prior to the upgrade to 11.1.2.

Then I upgraded to Mavericks hoping to eliminate the iTunes glitch. That just cost me drivers for my printer and scanner, neither of which have updated software for the new OS X.

i would rec that anyone wait uhntil there is a fix for iTunes before upgrading.

iTunes has been acting terrible for a while now. i like to keep artwork for my TV shows and Movies. adding artwork or editing the title basically will lock up iTunes with a "not responding" message in the Force Quit menu. and when you watch the core activity it will max out only 1 of the 8 cores and basically sit there for about 3-5 min stalled.

keep in mind that i have a brand new Retina display 2.7ghz( i7) mac book pro that is 4 weeks old. i was having this problem with my older mac pro, so i decided to upgrade. it might actually work worse now.

starting to hate Apple.
