My F7 through F9 keys stopped working in anything other than iTunes after upgrading to Mavericks

I upgraded to Mavericks yesterday. Before the upgrade, i was able to use my F7 through F9 keys in all media programs, especially Clementine, but as of yesterday they don't work in anything other than itunes. Can anyone help or am I stuck with opening the Clementine window and pressing the pause button there?
