1080p to 720p with H.264 setting
I have project filming at 1280 x 1080
DVCProHD 1080i/60
My client want output is 720p and H.264 and mp4.
So what setting I should set up on FCP7 sequence?
Thanks

The SEQUENCE? Use the same setting you shot. DVCPRO HD 1280x1080. Once you are done editing, you THEN convert the final to what the client wants. The H.264 can be done in Compressor, and then bring that into MPEG STREAMCLIP and simply SAVE AS an MP4.
Work in a sequence that matches your source material. Export using file: export: Quicktime Movie (not quicktime conversion) with current settings. Bring this file into compressor and use compressor for your outputs. You've got limited options with mp4 in compressor, but you can take your h264 output and do a save as in compressor to mp4 which just changes the file container without any additional compression.
Great minds think alike.
Someone asked me to set video 720p, H.264, mp4 at first.
Now they ask me for pixel size is 400 x 224.
I could not figure out how to get it set 400 x 224 with 720p. Possible?
No...it will no longer be 720p, as that is defined as having the dimensions 1280x720 (960x720 anamorphic). If they want 400x224...that's now 224p. Not even 360p! Wow...small.
Nope. it won't be 720p pixel dimensions which are usually 1280x720 square pixels.
ok...curious when use Mpeg Streamclip export to mpeg 4. Which quality I should use 50%(default) or 100%?
Up to you...how good do you want it to look...how large of a file do you want to have? that's the trade off. Higher percentage...better quality...larger file.
If you create an h264 quicktime in compressor with the desired results, you can bring that into mpeg streamclip and do a save as to mp4, you will not be recompressing, no quality settings will be available.
compressor allows you to CUSTOMIZE and SAVE presets which allows you to experiment in a methodical way til you arrive at the optimal result. You'll then be able to apply these settings to other quicktimes in the future. Don't think you can do that in mpegstreamclip.
i am still struggle with issue of "720p with 400x224". Someone told my co-worker that it is possible. I am not sure about that.
There is no struggle. It simply is wrong. 1280x720 are the dimensions of 720p. 400x224 is different from 1280x720, therefore isn't 720p. It is 224p. The last number is the resolution we call out. 1920x1080 is 1080p (or 1080i) 640x360 is 360p.
Your co-worker is wrong. Wrongity wrong wrong. Tell them to look at this forum thread where I tell them how wrongity wrong wrong they are.
Because they...are wrong.
And if Shane tells you you're wrong, your wrong, unless of course, I tell you otherwise. In this case, Shane's correct.
Smile!
Other ? They filmed on 1920 x 1080 (1080i) then create h.264. then go to mpeg streamclip so I need select deinterlace video so create to 224p (even they want 720p) ha. So i need to select "deinterlace video" to make p. Right?
Why so many steps? Edit the format shot, export the full res PRORES master, then convert to 400x224 H.264, delinterlace, in one go.
still issue, my co-worker still not accept. I don't know what to say to her.
client told her that i need to have file with 720p, h.264 and mp4.
They already film in 1280x1080/60i (not 1920x1080).
Later, they want final with 720p, h.264, mp4 with 400x224.
I wonder if that make different if time sequence with 1280x720 instead of its own orginial?
I already put all over 200 sequence (want individuals) with orginial. So should I change sequence settings to 720p. If so, what settings should I put?
First if that make different at final output?
Thanks
