In Mail with Mountain Lion I could simply double click a contact and it would insert the contact into the to field, it doesn't seem to work in Mavericks; anyone else with this problem?
Same problem here. Contacts when clicked do not give new email window with address of contact in it. All contacts are worthless. To send a new email I must put in new email address every time. Big problem.
I've tried syncing, rebuilding, removing previous recipients...no joy. Need to fix this soon. Also, automatic sending emails to designated mailbox no longer works either, must be manually done. Bummer.
yes, quite agree. contacts seems to be completely worthless now. all you can do is select a contact and send to that one contact. no dragging and dropping int Mail, nothing...

I never tried it in Mt Lion, or if I did I don't remember. But this is how it's done in Mavericks...
Just click on the "Work", "Home" or whatever you have there as. And it'll give you a bunch of options on what to do...
You also have other options for other fields too. Such as the physical address...

They have made a horrible change to usability--they have iOS-ified it. Here's how to do it. Select the recipient window you want (To:, CC:, BCC:, etc.) and start typing a known recipient or mail group's name, and it will suggest what you're looking for. Then, you can confirm it and either the name or group names will appear in the window. Selecting a group or name and double-clicking from the Contacts subwindow no longer will insert the name or group.
Yes still having this problem. Double clicking on a contact no longer puts address in field. I copy and paste address. Even after todays mail update.
hi..well i never knwe aoub that, but did notice if you click on an address....not sure if this is what you are talking about...but anyway...
if you rollover an address in an email, a little arrow comes up which allows one, is so many steps to add it to a contact very neately....
The new update for Mail, 7 November, does not fix the problem. Same as before. Rules don't work, clicking on address does not start new email, Reader has no email link at bottom of screen.
Not using Gmail and everything worked fine before Mavericks.
Am I missing something, or are you guys not understanding what I posted?

With respect, KOT, you need to read the op's post more carefully. The OP is launching a new message from Mail, not from Contacts. Mavericks has crippled the integration between Mail -> Contacts. In all previous versions, double-clicking or Drag-Drop from an individual contact or group into an address field in Mail has worked well. Not now. In my testing, the only integration possible is to begin typing in an address field (To:, CC:, BCC:), select the suggestion from the drop down menu, and click the little "+" button way over on the right.
also, it used to be in the bcc or to area of an email, you could search the names you put in from a group, for example...no more....

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
Nutshell above: Mavericks has crippled integration between Mavericks and Contacts. Left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

This sure has increased the time it takes to send an email to a bunch of people. What were they thinking?
