When trying to update to iMovie 10, I ran into the "video card does not meet the minimum system requirements"

on my Mac Pro (2008) with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB graphics.

I tried the copy-from-somewhere-else workaround: I copied the iMovie 10 app from my MacBook Pro to my Mac Pro and it works. It gives me a warning message about being an unsupported configuration and performance it way choppier than on the MacBook Pro, but it works.

Meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes open for an affordable OpenCL video card.

I bought Final Cut Pro X when it became available on the Mac Store after finding the trial version quicker than iMovie. That works fine with Mavericks (so far), but the HT4664 page states it's not compatible with my iMac. It didn't stop the purchase or update?

What is strange is that Aperture and Final Cut Pro are faster/more responsive than iPhoto 9.5 and iMovie 9.0.9.

I would expect "Pro" apps to place more demand on the iMac?
