Q: Window Tabs: dragging the window tab to the desktop

Window Tabs: Tried to grab the top of the finder window and wound up dragging the window tab to the desktop.

This creates a mini-window have to logout to remove.

If you right click on the finder icon in the dock and select show all windows they are in the list selecting them seems to do nothing but return you to the desktop.

What the heck is it?

MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2008), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

nope, still the same with 10.9.2. I just turn it off and forget tha whole thing

Still happening to me in 10.9.4. Oh well, maybe it will be fixed in Yosemite.

In my case - with TotalFinder installed - this command in the Terminal solved the problem, finally

osascript -e "tell application \"Finder\" to quit" && defaults write com.apple.finder DisableAllAnimations -bool false && defaults write com.apple.finder AnimateWindowZoom -bool true && defaults write com.apple.finder TotalFinderDontFixInstallerDefaults -bool true

It's got something to do with disabling Finder animations with utilities like TotalFinder.

Enable/restore Finder / Window animations and the ghosting is gone.
