Is there a way to return the colour folders when using the new tags like the old behavior of labels? These new circle thingees are too small and barely noticable.

Don't blame the moderators. You agreed to those terms when you joined the forums. You did read them didn't you?

Can you point me to the paragraph in the terms where I agreed to not post a link to an application that might help the OP with their problem?

I believe that if they allowed links like that, the forums would be flooded with them.
Interesting to note: Take a look at my post above from just a few minutes ago. It now says "<Edited by Host>" at the bottom and the links to the two programs were removed, but the editor left the names of the programs in so that those who may be interested can find them. I think that is a very fair way to edit a forum.

I know it doesn't leave it in your selected order but it's actually quite nice having things grouped by tag as I can now have all my live jobs at the top of my list and old stuff at the bottom. If you go into finder preferences you can rename the coloured tags to "1 - Something" "2 - Something" to have the tags ordered with your favourite colour at the top.
I find when the colours are grouped together like this they're a lot easier to see than dots all aver the shop 🙂

It seems that people are missing the point, that tags mean you can now organise your files into a project based system rather than an app based one and include files on the computer, files in iCloud and files in various apps too.

No we are not missing the point.
What we are missing is "Labels".
Maybe the answer would be to have the old colour bar except for the "Tags" column which could then be colour coded per tag. Something like the line I've coloured here:
Any solution would be better than the way things work now.

Surely my making any proposals here would be a pretty pointless exercise. Especially as it is my understanding that Apple do not actually read these posts.
I do not want, or expect Apple to alter the new "Tags".
All I ask for is a return to some kind of alternate simple "Label" system.
We just need another contextual menu called labels that lets us do something like this
