You may as well have just removed the post entirely.
It was only a bit of trivia.
Although I am curious why you deleted petermac's?
Didn't seem too harsh.

Feb 21, 2014 8:44 PM in response to PeterBreis0807by Doug-H1955,Actually, it was a bit harsh. Anyone could answer the question - general problems with Mavericks - especially since others here had been the ones who pointed them out. It gets to be a bit frustrating when someone keeps belittling people's thoughts and wishes.

Curious why he suddenly became precious though.

It's all getting very silly ...

That is a slick way of including a graphic in a message. How did you do it? Most important is it difficult to learn how and/or do you have to belong to Jive to do it?
I hope I don't hear from Peter Gun on this issue.

Feb 25, 2014 2:47 PM in response to Madashelluphereby demisjohn,Just to add my voice:
I certainly do miss the coloring of entire folder rows, also used it extensively - it was clear when working with others how much faster I could locate documents than people who did not have some such system.
However, I think the new Tags are actually Great! It's excellent that you can have more than one tage on an item, and that you can arbitrarily name the tags (well, Mac OS 7's labels had that too), sort by them, change their colors etc. It's so flexible - when combined with spotlight searching or the SideBar's "tags" section, it's pretty great. Organization is about to get even faster.
Just like other Mac OS features that were added, while removing our favourite "old" methods, I think this one will also result in an even more efficient use of the computer over time - once I get my mindest out of my old way of browsing through folders, and instead learn to instinctively search for the Tag i want (preferably using the Sidebar).
I very often categorize a file under multiple ideas in my head - eg. a file is both a presentation & an experiment's results.
I think it's now time to start applying this same mental organization to my computer, and search for tags instead of manually browsing the folder heirarchy looking for the right color.
Since we've now got the excellent benefit of being able to have more than one tag per item, it does indeed seem impossible to properly color a whole row, since you couldn't color it while showing all the tags applied.
One thing that would help a Lot is if there were a "Tags Icon" column with the little colored balls that I could drag around to my preferred spot - I'd personally put the tags icon at the start of the filename for rapid identification.

One of the more helpful ideas that I have read in this topic. Worth sending feedback to Apple with that idea. It would be a great feature it it were possible for them to do it.
Thanks

Feb 25, 2014 4:56 PM in response to Barney-15Eby Peohguy,I thought I needn't explain the type of message since I made the reply to Pangaea88 who was showing how he wrote a message to Apple Feedback that doesn't have provisions for inserting images.
Sorry I wasn't as specific as I should have been. I have become my own pet peeve .

You don't think that personal experiences and opinions being expressed to Apple are enough that you have to type up a letter for everyone to use? You don't see that people ignore being bombarded with the identical message? Isn't that a bit like spamming? Isn't everybody that sends them YOUR letter just mirroring YOUR experience exactly? Doesn't appear to be much of a way to approach a Feedback line convincingly, but whatever gives you a thrill I suppose.
Good luck with that
Pete
Of course I wasn't suggesting that we should spam Apple. It simply seems logical to me that the feedback folks at Apple will be much more responsive to our complaints if they can visualize the problem (or, at least, one of the main problems) so many people have with the substitution of tags for labels.
The issue specified is hardly based solely on my own experiences, either: I have viewed several other threads on multiple forums in which people state their frustrations with the new Tags system, and from what I have seen, the most widespread complaint is that when you are looking at a list of files, it is much harder/slower/less convenient to pick out the one you are searching for when it is differentiated from the others by a small colored dot on the far left, as opposed to when the entire line is highlighted in bright, contrasting color (which just so happened to be exactly the same problem I had).
I intentionally posed the questions in this message so that when the Apple feedback staff read them and then looked at the screenshots, they would be able to see the problem through the eyes of the Mac users complaining about it. And while I can't claim to know much about how Apple's feedback system works, I assumed that the chances of convincing Apple that this is a genuine problem would be improved if I shared this method of explaining said problem with other people who planned on sending complaints to them. Therefore, I shared this message on a few of the aforementioned threads as an idea for how we might go about communicating our Labels/Tags problems to Apple. I meant it as a public service; I'm sorry if it didn't come off that way. Thank you to those of you who correctly interpreted my post as a suggested example of how to pose a persuasive argument to Apple to bring back Labels as an option.
Perhaps the line inviting people to "reuse this message" made me sound like I was trying to rally a spam mob or something? Allow me to rephrase it, then:
Anyone else trying to convince Apple to reinstate the Labels feature is welcome to base your message on mine.
Better?
P.S. For the record, the screenshots in the message are not mine; they were taken by another forum member by the name of peterleary. (Another poster actually suggested that we tweet those images at Apple or something.) I thanked him for the images on that thread, but if I have done him a disservice by not crediting him when I posted my message, I apologize.
