Mar 6, 2014 7:59 AM in response to Madashelluphereby BusinessBroker,I agree with all of you. The new system is a business person's organizational nightmare.
What were they thinking? Little dots off to the right are surely not going to help with organization.
Bring the ability to color the entire line back!
Someone who has never run a business or managed a lot of files is obviously responsible for this totally unusable feature.
Everyone needs to submit feedback to Apple at Apple.com/feedback.

Mar 8, 2014 10:26 PM in response to Madashelluphereby Joe Briskey,Likewise, I find the colored dots useless, and most unfortunately, symtomatic of a growing crisis at Apple; change for change sake without consideration for the user experience. It's depressing to own a compter made by a company that thinks things like these colored dots are a suitable substitute for a previous excellent color tagging system. I'm worried that Apple is losing it. A number of the OS changes introduced in ios 7 and Mavericks are pitiful, not the least of which is the complely awful calendar in ios 7. Innovation is great, but has to be implemented with respect for the principle of "If it ain't broken, don't fix it." Steved Jobs, please report back.

Thanks for your opinion, why don't you tell Apple?

This is a discussion group, right?
Don't you want people to come here to discuss problems?
If you're not interested in what other Apple users have to say, why keep butting in with the same message over and over again?
I come here to read what others have to say about the products and I, like many others, am fully aware that we are not talking to Apple, but to other Mac users - who, like me, have also already told Apple what they are concerned about.

No, it's a tech support forum for Apple users manned by other Apple users.

Mar 9, 2014 4:34 AM in response to Shaun Fergusonby petermac87,They direct their posts at Apple. I give them Apple's feedback link so they can make themselves heard. I don't care what you discuss as long at it's within the TOU people agreed to. But if you are talking to Apple here, then I simply redirect people. What are you doing to help beside rubbishing people? I don't even recall directing a reply to you?
Cheers
Pete

Mar 9, 2014 6:58 AM in response to Shaun Fergusonby DABbio,Shaun, you're correct, most of us treat this as a discussion board, as is appropriate; it's called a "discussion" board, after all. It wasn't founded by the person seeking to dictate its modus operandi, and it doesn't actually have a regular monitor, according to my understanding. The "company" sweeps across it from time to time in search of TOU miscreants, like one of those tentacled bots from The Matrix, or upon prompting from certain self-appointed chieftains, who would do us a service simply by forwarding appropriate posts to the Apple site that they have kindly identified for us. Meanwhile, the company no doubt visits boards like this themselves, anyway, especially one like this which has hits of +70,000, in the upper tier, it seems to me; just thumb through the first few pages of the folder one up from this in the discussion group heirarchy, on Mavericks.
The discussion, as contrasted with the griping, which is perfectly legitimate also, is valuable to people like me who are looking for alternative solutions, and who just like to commiserate. Misery loves company.

Mar 9, 2014 7:28 AM in response to Joe Briskeyby Pontotoc Peg,Every day I am more satisfied that I reloaded Mountain Lion. Every time my work is eased by the color labels, the effort of a reinstall was worth it. But how long can I stay with ML before Apple quits supporting it? The dis-satisfaction of the other users re the removal of the labels is heartening, because I continue to have hope that Apple will fix this. I also agree that much of iOS 7 was disappointing--particularly the calendar. I continue to send feedback to Apple re iOS 7 and the labels. Each time I do, Apple's response is "Thank you for your feedback."

Don't worry, you have more than few years left with ML.
See: http://goo.gl/fHprdz
"Apple offers no end-of-life roadmaps for its operating systems, and it doesn't officially comment on whether support has dried up for this or that version of OS X. The best you can do is look at historical data. Since switching to a yearly release cadence with Lion back in 2011, Apple seems to be willing to support whatever the latest version is, plus the two preceding versions."

Mar 9, 2014 7:54 AM in response to Tony T1by Pontotoc Peg,Thank you. That is somewhat reassuring news for me re ML. Now if Apple would just "support labels in Mavericks". Thanks again, Tony T1.
